Yamaha Vector Apex Nitro R1 Motor Starting Issues SOLVED - The issues with this motor sitting in the off season is the carb and fuel pump dry up and loose the prime. You need to find the vent house near the belt and pressurize the gas tank forcing fuel into the fuel pump.

This does work great, I have 2006 Rage RS with same motor, this is the only way I was ever able to get it start properly first start of winter. I used to have to crank it 1000 times.

Been squirting gas into the carbs on both 05 vecs for a decade. Fires right up. Just lay the intake cover back on as you may get a flame or 2. May need to do it a few times until running on its own. Saves the starter bigtime and they are a pain to change.
