The fact remains that the Catholic religion has been irreparably compromised by satanic ritual, dress and "music" at the reopening ceremony of its flagship outside the Vatican. The world has witnessed a sinister takeover by the Cult of the Ugly.

There is an old quote from the late Msgr. Ronald Knox, who when asked why he baptized a baby using the Latin Ritual, when the baby did not understand Latin, replied, "No the baby does not, but the devil does." The focus must return to the Sacraments are actions of Christ Jesus and should reflect that we are submitting our wills to the Triune God. I was engaged in a conversation with group of priests several years back. One priest then in his 90s and I were the only two who had and did offer the Old Rites. One of the younger (50s) priests asked us, "You two are stuck in time, don't you believe that the New Mass is valid?" My older counterpart replied, "Theologically all the most essential elements of the Rite are present when the Missal of the New Mass is used, and I believe that our Lord is truly present at the New Mass, because he promised He would not abandon us. But I believe like the rest of us who know the old Mass, while He is present at the New Rites, He would rather be somewhere else."

It's interesting, I read where vestments actually stemmed from the Roman's formal wear for men in the 16 th century and when Roman formal wear was modernized in the 17th century, the Roman Church said, "No, that's modernism, we will keep our formal wear vestments as they are." And, here they are still struggling with modernism. Only, I don't think all this back and forth is based in modernism this time as much is it may be based in politicism.

The improvised organ playing was an aggressive scream, at one point it went into an atonal death, the killer of harmony. I couldn't help noticing the Archbishops confusion at what he was hearing. Regarding the vestments, I read somewhere that the designer was showing the reflections of light streaming through the cathedrals stain glass. Tbh I nearly cried when I heard the organ, as to my ears it sounded like a bad omen. On a more mundane level I wondered if an organ needed so many pipes, like what could go wrong. Anyway I'm not a musician so what would I know. Gavin I agree with you on your observations of the Bishop, I think he did come across as a holy man with calm and peaceful control of the whole event. Aside from the organ and perhaps even the vestments, it was a beautiful event, especially the Bishop and children's singing.

It was indeed a fortress. A friend and I are bringing an icon of Our Lady of Notre Dame to be blessed there hopefully in the next day or two once we can access the place. The Notre Dame we love still stands. The statue of the Christ Child is a miracle. During my years as a student here I often prayed before that statue. It was before this statue that so many famous Catholic writers were converted, including Paul Claudel and Bernanos. I spent two years here as a student at the ‘Catho’ otherwise known as the Institut Catholique, the preferred university for Catholic students.

You couldn't be fond of the, " old," Notre Dame, because you never saw it. Notre Dame has been repeatedly restored and redone, and bears little semblance to how it appeared during the Middle Ages. The interior was once sectioned off by Rood screens, which separated the laity in the nave, from the choir. They're were no pews. The interior featured colored statuary,painted murals. Today's bleached and sanitized, Notre Dame, is very much a different church.

Both practically and metaphorically speaking, God is rebuilding our precious Catholic Church, which was gradually, insipidly lost to modernism and faithless practices, praise be Jesus in the most holy sacrament of the altar. 'Soul of Christ sanctify me, Body of Christ save me, Blood of Christ enebriate me, Water from the side of Christ wash me, Passion of Christ strengthen me, O Good Jesus hear me, within Thy Wounds hide me, suffer me not to be separated from Thee, from the immortal offender defend me, at the hour of my death call me, and let me come to Thee, to be ever with Thee, Amen'. They dressed Jesus in garish garments during His Scourging...the Church is being renewed through all these events, there is a huge renewal happening, under the surface, the people are waking from this nightmare... Thank you for broadcasting this wonderful channel.

Gavin I was in Shrewsbury cathedral today and Canon Christopher and Father Sean suggested that the congregation kneel at the altar rail if we are able and take the host on the hand or tongue. This was suggested with slight trepidation but I felt that there was an almost audible sigh of relief from those present. Interesting! It seems we were all longing to go back to the traditional way
@Mark3ABE
@Mark3ABE 3 күн бұрын
No, not the “traditional” way at all. In the early Church, communion was received in the hand. Our Lord invited the Apostles to “take and eat”. Communion on the tongue is a recent innovation in the long history of the Church. It was introduced to limit the opportunity for the profanation of the host. The concept of some parts of a Christian’s body being “clean” and some “unclean” is fanciful. In any event, most people would not consider a to tongue to be cleaner than a hand. It is most unhygienic for the Priest’s hand to be constantly so close to all that saliva and exhaled breath. Of course if Our Lord had said to the Apostles: “stick out your tongues, and I shall put a bit of bread on them” then that would be a different matter.

@Mark3ABE you are mistaken...comm in the hand was stopped centuries ago by the early church due to abuses and people dropping hosts...the apostles holding the hosts were Bishops and priests not lay people...research it more to understand how abusive and or careless and or irreverent comm in the hand is..I have found over 20 hosts on the floor trodden on ...with mud etc during to irreverent comm in the hands where particles of Jesus go all over people's hands...it is not about hygiene...the early church stopped it to protect Jesus

Thank you all for your reflectiions on the Notre Dame re-opening mass. I watched from here in the US where it was 3:45 am. Like you, I was shocked by the outrageous vestments. Your analogy to MS Windows is perfect). The organ "awakening" began with such interesting notes but after a few minutes, it had turned in cacophony. It was so bad that I had to pause the video. That might well qualify as an eternal form of punishment where one would have to listen to it ... forever. As for the copper altar, this is yet one more insult to a loving God. The altar is the central and most integral part of our liturgy; it represents Christ. II'm comfident that, like me, you have seen some beautifully caved marble altars truly befitting a place of honor. In my heart, I spologized to our Lord for their crude selection. But .... where was the CRUCIFIX? According to the GIRM, there is to be a cross with a corpus, on or near the altar and visible to EVERYONE. The only "crucifix" I saw was that small metal one with what may have been an emaciated Christ burned onto the surface on one side. Did I miss it? The progressive members of the church, diminish any artifact connected with our Lord. No crucifix, no stations of the cross and I'm guessing that whatever monstrance they have obtained for the "new" Notre Dame, will be small in size and dull in color. So glad I found your channel.

I am 87 years old living in an English speaking country for most of my life, I am deeply grateful for a chance to follow in French and Latin I even appreciated Macron’s participation and recognition of all those who contributed as it was for the first bâtisseurs de cathédrales. I agree with your comments on the altar and vestments. I just saw that the Cologne Cathedral renovated with the same shaped altar. In my days involved in liturgy I learned that the altar symbol was either table for meal or table for sacrifice, when we designed our mission altar we opted for the meal. I was glad to meet the archbishop, Macron showed emotion so I do not share your opinion of him.

I love these girls and guys, but I love the Gothic, have been to numerous cathedrals as destinations, and I think you're on to something. Regarding the altar, it is actually classically elegant. Yes, spare. (Possibly even Cistercian in reaction to Cluny.) A pagan altar? Is the Church frozen at 1250? One need not be an antiquarian to be a Catholic. No one does baroque any more, and it was the Counter-Reformation style, and used for many a bacchanalia. And, as I said, I love the Gothic. Personally, I do find the asymmetrical vestments jarring and possibly suggestive. And I agree that the strafing of the churches has been horrid. God bless. Harold Stanford California USA

At 12.15 the organ plays Genesis, the Archbishop announces that the organ is the instrument of “entonne la louange de Dieu notre créateur, notre Père” so it is not a cacophony but the birth of the world. The ceremony is not political but what was shocking was a President who entered like the King just after the Archbishop, who made his speech in the cathedral when the King himself would not have done so. For the rest, all French people appreciated his speech which paid tribute to the 2000 craftsmen with exceptional talents and to the firefighters who saved the building. The furniture was not shocking. It has changed over time as various buried medieval elements have been found that had been removed during the Renaissance and in the 18th century by fashion. In addition, the new altar is reminiscent of Noah's ark or the stone of Abraham's sacrifice, so nothing shocking for the French who find great harmony in the balance of the inverted ridge of the cathedral's vaults, prefiguring God on earth, in the person of Jesus. This aesthetic has its foundation in the baptistery which is its primordial image, the baptism which will lead to communion. The new altar includes five pieces of relics of saints that the priests will have consecrated on Sunday with holy chrism and the five incenses representing the five wounds of Christ. This mass was extraordinary and grandiose.

Did anyone see the beautiful mass and consecration of Notre Dame Cathedral? Dozens of bishops, many many priests, and the regular people of the parish. President Macron and his wife were present, and while Macron didn’t go up to receive communion his wife did, very reverentially and prayerfully. The organ, the chapels, the Ambo and the altar were each blessed. The archbishop covered the altar in the oil of chrism and incensed and blessed the altar. But no, many people only bothered to comment on the opening of the cathedral and not the mass reconsecrating it. Go watch the video. It’s worth it.
