@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 4 ай бұрын
It depends. How warm your container will get during the day? Because sun can make it very warm, very fast. If it's under 30C it should be ok, but preferred would be something like 27 max. So if you don't let it get to hot - it will work :)

@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 3 ай бұрын
Glad I could help! I would advise to use a light because sun is unpredictable and the biggest issue is the temperature. Sun can heat up the container very fast and that would kill the plants. Of course it's possible, just a bit more difficult to control.

@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 9 ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you! It really depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you want the have a big carpet in your tank - then you can divide the 'basket' into small portions, and spread them through your substrate. But if you want one, huge, dense piece in one place - just put it underwater and you are good to go ;) Here is how I used mine: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZK5dKRjZsRjbsU

I always put them in slightly warm water for one minute and then try to wash it off by moving it quite fast in the same container. If you have problems just hold it under the tap with running water and remove it with your fingers.

@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube Ай бұрын
Yes, it should work. In general I would use as strong light as possible, but weaker light will also work. The only difference would be slower growth. Only thing to remember is to be careful about the temperature in the container, because very high temperatures will kill the plants.

@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! The nutrients are coming from the active substrate I placed on top of the sand. In case of this plant (Monte Carlo), that is all that is needed. Thanks! You can, but to be honest I wouldn't expect antastic results. Sun is unpredictable, you cannot control weather, clouds, and temperature. It might heat up to much and kill your plant. When I was testing with sun - it was working only for very easy stem plants, but not monte carlo :/

Would I be able to grow a a Matt then add it to a established aquarium? That non planted
@trevorbrit2300
@trevorbrit2300 5 ай бұрын
Yes. I have an established 10-gallon betta tank. I followed the exact procedure as in the video. I separated the fully grown mat into "clumps" and carefully put it the aquarium and lowered it onto the existing substrate. Although there was massive root growth from this 8 week of "incubation", obviously some of the clumps started to break from the main body when it was CAREFULLY being lowered into the aquarium. No problem, those clumps settled onto the substrate surface and eventually started to spread out. I also decided to pile some substrate up against one of the outside walls of my betta's "swim through" cave., then using the same process as before, carefully lowered some of the propagated anubias onto the sloping substrate. After gently moving and smoothing out the substrate the anubias started to spread horizontally over the side wall of the betta cave and onto the top. It gives a neat effect of a half overgrown "cave" that my betta loves swimming through. You just need to be patient when placing the propagated plant onto the substrate that you pile up onto the sloping substrate that is resting against the "cave".

Hello, can you please tell me whether they can be fed with micro or macro fertilizers for 6 weeks as required or sprayed only with water?
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 5 ай бұрын
I only spray with water, because active soil is full of nutrients anyway. There was no need to use anything more during the process of propagation.

Question, if you don't use the entire amount of propagated plant material, will the remaining amount reproduce and continue to fill the container? As in a never-ending supply of plants? Hahahaha, im cheap! And I have all the specialized plant growing tools at my disposal! But you've given me a great idea! Thank you so very much for your video!!
@AquascapingCube

Thank you! Yes, it will keep growing - but will require a lot of time. When using it - take smaller portions from different places of the container, this way it will "come back" faster. Patience is key - and money :P

I wonder if it would grow more in about three weeks. I am going to do a dark start on a new tank starting tomorrow and will wait three weeks. I have Monte Carlo arriving in two days so if I do this I will only be able to propagate it in this manner for three to four weeks. I would assume I can keep it alive for and maybe grow a little more by doing it this way.
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 3 ай бұрын
Yes, it will grow a bit in 4 weeks. Don't expect big results - but the good thing is that it should develop some roots. And this will make your life easier when you will fill it with water.

Yes, and yes ;) If you don't have active substrate, you can use river sand or something similar. Then you use liquid fertilizer or even better - root tabs. With java moss - definetally yes, I did it myself and it grows like crazy.

Is it normal for the newly planted plants to melt some leaves in the first few weeks or two of planting?
@AquascapingCube

Yes, absolutely. Most of the potted plants are grown in emersed form, and once they get into water they are "dropping" emersed leaves and grow new ones - suitable for underwater environment. It's totally normal :)

Yes, you can do that. The only problem might be planting it - because it's difficult with Monte Carlo. And it will be even more difficult because fish might dig it out at first. So I suggest to mix the substrete with sand - to make it heavier. But you still can totally try it out.
