I'm 83 and have long been interested in network technology and protocols. Your videos are the very best I've ever seen for educating a person on networking fundamentals and beyond. If I were going to sit for a CCNA, your training is the one I'd use to prepare for that exam. Thanks for all the intense effort you put in to prepare and present these videos. They are awesome. I plan to watch all of them and so far, I've made it through the first three, and now I'm on to video 4. Very, very good work. Thank you for your contributions to this old person who has a fervent desire to keep learning until he dies.

NetworKing i have one doubt about ip classification. everybody saying the ip class ranges starting octect,like first octect of class C ip address should be 192.x.x.x. But why everybody using 192.168.x.x. Not using 192.1.1.1 or 192.2.1.1, or 192.2.2.3 like that. The class of an IP address is decided by a First OCTET.
@saadullahkhann
@saadullahkhann 9 жыл бұрын
suresh kumar Hi Suresh, You are absolutely right that the IP addresses are recognized by the first octet. however, the network part of an IP would always remain same. As you know 192.168.100 is the network part of the IP. Its like an address 28 George street that will remain same. The host part will change from 1- 225. This is like a house number. every one has a different house number, mine is 104 your would be 107.
@mouloudtaieb9222
@mouloudtaieb9222 9 жыл бұрын
Hello suresh, people use 192.168.X.X because it's the private range of the calsss C. Regards.

Hi Imran...your videos are exceptionally awesome. Very well explained. Was just going through your day 3 IP Address video, there is a small correction. Valid IP's for class A is 16777214. Because 2 to the power of 24 is 16777216 that is 16777216-2 ,=16777214

Imran I just want to say that your videos are great and super easy to understand. I saw the error with the number of hosts for class A but then saw the comment on this video that you fixed it. I went over your videos two years ago and now I'm taking a program in the university and going over all these IPs etc. again and I'm still coming back to watch your explanations because it's amazing how you simplify things, and make everyone understand that. I wish you were my instructor in the university that would makes things easier, but keep going and I just want to thank you for all your hard work on these videos.

I thought Id do it in my "spare time", but it just turned out that now I must somehow master the subneting on our catalyst 2950 overnight, because somebody tought it was a wise idea not to call me when replacing the modem in companies production enviroment - its DHCP stole the routers gateway ip, and with all the printers and pcs connected im having a realy realy fun time self-certificating in an actual production environment XD #rave Any hints, besides just reseting the swithc to factory are more than welcome.

Hi Imran, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. Here I have a question. Workstation A has been assigned an IP address of 192.0.10.24/28. Workstation B has been assigned an IP address of 192.0.10.100/28. The two workstations are connected with a straight-through cable. Attempts to ping between the hosts are unsuccessful. What two things can be done to allow communications between the hosts? (Choose two) A. Replace the straight-through cable with a crossover cable. B. Change the subnet mask of the hosts to /25. C. Change the subnet mask of the hosts to /26. D. Change the address of Workstation A to 192.0.10.15. E. Change the address of Workstation B to 192.0.10.111. Answer: A B My concern- As the ip is of class C, hence total no of 1s=24, so subnet mask of the hosts to /24 not /25 as it is in the answers. Please advise.

Imram, seems to copy & paste the same messge to all people asking questions and yet not giving any answer. Why /25 in Class C address, u ask!? With CIDR you can specify the bits to decide how many host u need for thay network. in that /25 example, that means that u have 7 bits left to assing hosts. The subnetmask would be : 255.255.255.192

Who will be assigning this IP address to the PCs? will it be the ISPs or the administrator of the company?
@NetworKingInc

Thanks for your comment. Please subscribe to our channel on KZbin. And also give us a review on facebook: facebook.com/pg/NetworKingConsultant/reviews Everything that is inside the Demarcation Point (the place where ISP's responsibility ends) is the company administrators responsibility. ISP would assign 1 public IP to your gateway, but for everything inside the network either a DHCP server needs to be configured or a system of static IP would be needed. Please continue watching our series and it builds on your knowledge and setting up networks are all explained.

Mr KANNA, it depends if you're working in company as network administrator! You assigne private addresses but incase you need to go to the internet, your isp assigns you a public range of ip address if not and you use nat directly configured on your local network gateway HOPE I HELP OUT THANKS

I am going through these videos and saw your question. In your home network the private dynamic IP addresses is assigned by your home router within a fixed range. But in a corporate (large network) environment the DHCP server (or its role) does this job. You can also set up a static IP address (within the range that you are allowed to) for any devices on the network.

i have one doubt ..may be not directly related to this video but still i want know the solution....i want to access a local server which is running in my laptop ...from my mobile phone ..but i can do this by using my laptops ip address assigned by my router....i want give a domain name to this ip address....so i will enter a domain in my mobile browser and it will open up my server page.
@NetworKingInc
@NetworKingInc 9 жыл бұрын
+Ankit Yadav Thanks for watching. You need to change the hosts files on your phone! You can create an entry where you put your domain to be redirect to the the localhost ip address. Remember, this will be local to your device. So if you make host entry changes in your phone, only the phone will work as planned. If you want a more network wide change (home or office network), you might want to have a local DNS server and configure the domain name on that. So all devices on your local network will reach your laptop for that particular domain. Visit our website www.nwking.org to know more about our company and get updates on new videos. what is LOOKPACK ip address (127 series) and why particular 127 series are reserve for LOOKPACK ip address??????
@NetworKingInc
@NetworKingInc 8 жыл бұрын
127 series is reserved for loopback. Loop backs are used for testing a network stack and other lab usage. So if you ping any ip address starting from 127, your computer will always reply as long as your TCP/IP stack is working. Stay tuned. Subscribe to our channel, if you have not yet done so! Let's say you send the message "Hello" to the loopback IP address (127.0.0.0). The message "Hello" will be sent directly to the machine you sent the message from. The address addresses your own machine, "looping" the data back to where it came from. Hope that helps

@Yesh Surve 127.0.0.0 is the network address and if you ping that IP from your machine it will give you "General failure." You can ping anything between 127.0.0.1 and 127.255.255.254.
