Hi. I recently learned to crochet and have an obsession for making animals. If someone's birthday is coming up or it is mother's days or some other holiday I will crochet something for them. However, people don't fully understand how long it takes to make things and are now obsessively asking me to make something for them (for free). It's starting to get stressful but I have given free things to other people. How do I tell them no but still be nice about it? I have no time to make what I actually want to make. Any advice?

Make a set of rules! You can make a gift for someone but if they keep asking you for more and more free stuff and you already have a lot of projects of your own to do, say that you don't have time right now for more projects because you are working on things you will sell in your shop. By saying this you aren't being rude and also telling them not everything can be free because it takes a lot of time (& materials which cost money) to make. Say you will make a list for people interested in buying if they want something specific and only take as much as you know you can finish in a reasonable amount of time.

Hi im new to crochet and I was wondering, if I use blanket yarn following a pattern of someone using smalller yarn and smaller hook do I size up my hook or use the small size? (I Followed a pattern with 3.5 hook (same as creator) but it looks way different than the original creators’ final product- is it because of the hook size?) please help if you can I just can’t wrap my head around it!

You would increase hook size for larger yarns,. And if yiur unsure abiut what size to use, i usually go one size down from the recommended on the yarn, just for tighter stitches 👍
