There will be some people who will just take the driving lessons and still not work.

This won't be a problem if they had driving lessons in school

Forgive me but if you’re unemployed why would you drive? And secondly how would you pay for it? Petrol/insurance etc. If your answer to the first question is people don’t just drive to work, people drive to places for entertainment then I reply with an extension of the second question - how would you pay for the entertainment? 95% of the reasons an unemployed person would drive would include someone else who will pay for them and likely can also drive themselves. And if your answer to this is they have money and can pay for themselves then they can pay for the lessons. This doesn’t make any sense.

Subsidised insurance? Outrageous! When I passed my test, 8 years ago, i was earning 11k a year, I had to pay 120 a month for car insurance to get to my 5.30am shifts for a car that would have been worth £350 if I had written it off. This is a very silly idea to be funded by the government. Save up for it by working walking shifts and getting the bus. Driving is very expensive, where does the funding stop? What happened to caring for the environment? Working from home still exists 🤷‍♀️

A difficult one, some people live miles away from places of work and not everyone is fit enough to cycle miles.so anything to help people get working is welcome

The harder you work, the more that gets taken away from you. The less you do, the more handouts you receive. Can the UK sink any lower?

NO ITS A CRAZY IDEA. Why are we so keen as a country to help people and subsidise things. You should leave school get a job. Whether that’s decent work or cleaning s**t. Then when you have some money saved up spend it on necessary things driving lessons included. If you want to go to uni that’s fine but personally I feel your student debt should be paid back regardless of whether you earn enough. (That will make people really think if uni is for them - entry levels should be tougher too) I don’t agree with hand outs. I didn’t get where I am today with handouts. I don’t agree with benefits unless you have a medical condition which means you cannot work or you are retired and have paid in for over 40 years. I don’t agree with job seekers allowance personally I feel it should be in the form of vouchers which can be spent for certain items such as food drink and warmth and should be the bare minimum to allow you to survive not live. (To entice you to get a job whatever the job maybe) and I also think if you are offered a job and cannot give a good enough reason why to turn it down you should lose all support including money for food. We have too many people scrounging off the system and it’s not on. We need to get much tougher on benefit cheats and scroungers who have never done a days work in their life. Rant over

Completely agree with you. I passed my driving test last year whilst working full time and paid for my own lessons and saved for them whilst paying my bills. I have a family member who boasts how well off she and her partner are and they're on benefits no kids paying private rent. Shocking
