I almost got divorced twice as a recruiter. It was the worst assignment I've ever worked. My wife and I saw marriage counselling. I helped two people successfully into the Army Band program. One young man became an Army Ranger and later a State trooper, his mother sent me Christmas cards every year until she died. I also helped a young lady into a job with intelligence work, who I later met in theater in RC-East as a young NCO. That was the best part of the job, I helped people get to a place where they could make a decision for themselves. It was rewarding and I grew personally and professionally.

@Buck Dewey Just purposely screw up the "practice calls" made during classes that simulate talking to potential recruits, and I was also surprised (not very though) on the devious tactics they teach you to get young people to sign up....when I was at the point of being failed an instructor talked to me and said he will recommend I get dropped from the class, I said I accept that, I told him I was not recruiter material but instead was a "field/motorpool" soldier who was much more comfortable in those environments....so I left Ft. Jackson and got orders for the 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, TX, where I spent seven good years doing the job I signed up for.

By the ending I felt that. I wasn’t in military. They say it’s not cold calling or cold knocking, but it might as well be. We’re expected to take the blame when no one is wanting. It’s our fault that we’re spending so much time trying to please our boss to have money for the girl but because we’re trying to support our family, we lose them. The world is so backwards and people truly don’t get the appreciation they deserve while some other ass hat gets attention just because he’s loud or manipulative.

This is my gripe with VET TV. They show the skaters/shitbags of the military. They cater not to Veterans but those who joined the military for college or didnt know what to do after high-school.

@@atadbitnefarious1387 LOL! "Anybody with a sense got out". Try finding/keeping a job with this virus Pandemic. While I sit on my guaranteed E-7 pay, BAH, Retirement, Medical, Dental, etc. Life is good! BTW, they cut our hours, so we only work once or twice a week but still get the same pay. God bless America!
@atadbitnefarious13874 жыл бұрын
@@Yammie_Moto671 So you still collect pay while doing nothing, and don't even feel bad about it. Kind of a skater/shitbag thing to brag about, which proves my point. To be fair, most government jobs are like that. That's why it's so full of incompetent people. They get complacent and comfortable. Coolaid drinking E7 making fun of kids that chose to get out early? You're literally the stereotype my dude lol. TYFYS.

This honestly irks me so much. The military supposedly struggles with recruitment, yet I tried to join when I was younger. I didn’t want to join for the benefits, the pay, or the schooling. I genuinely wanted to repay my debt to society and I felt the military would instill the much needed discipline and structure in my life and give me the purpose I always was seeking. No matter what I did, I could not join because of the mistakes I made as a kid. My juvenile record barred me from enlistment and I’ve always felt like I missed my calling and have always deeply regretted screwing up my life. I understand their reasoning, but I sincerely wish I could have been given the opportunity.

@@Lj_anp dont listen to him. It will be the best thing you can do for yourself. Be a part of the team and a leader but also think for yourself. Maintain your moral compass and set a example for the less mature recruits to follow. Have respect for those around you and teach them to do the same. Americans need there moral fabric back and it starts with you. Set a example for others to follow. Times might get a little tough at bootcamp but nothing you cant handle. Dont even let yourself think about quitting, always just think about pushing through. Even if its just thinking about each next step. efore you know it whatever the evolution will be over and you will look back on it with pride.
