At the end when he plays the whole thing through: Now THAT is how a real musician plays music! He closes his eyes and it's only FEELING. Sometimes you can just "tell" when a guy is a true artist, and Myles certainly is one......

I made a comment on a Mark Tremonti tutorial video the other day. Mark isn't a natural teacher so the tutorial wasn't as well constructed but Myles was actually a guitar tutor before he was approached for Alter Bridge which is why he can articulate things better. There wasn't anything really wrong with Mark's tutorial but you could tell he wasn't as well versed at giving them as is Myles.

Met my childhood hero Mark Tremonti after their show in Chicago! Most humble guitarist ever, fist bumped me and gave me his signed guitar pick, these guys sound clean yet punchy on stage and musicianship at highest level. They are the next Metallica in terms of the musical impact.

Mark Tremonti and Myles Kennedy are the best musicians to be a fan of. They're top-notch musicians and rock band and they're thoughtful about their fans, they share not charge, they teach instead of climbing the high pedestal of unreachable musas, and they are outstanding at all of that. They seem to really wnat their fans to learn their songs correctly and they do it seriously, not bragging, not hiding, straight to the point. I've watched A LOT of lessons from them. Thank you guys! you are much appreciated! I'm selling my guitar bc after many years I'm really bad, but this flamenco inspired piece is so awesome that I can't resist give it try. I've heard some many e-learning-tubers or whatever they're called say diminish triads are just dissonance structures to only create tension in our western minds... that was honey to my ears and it rocked my soul, no tension needed

Obviously this lesson is for someone who is more advanced but damn Myles is a fantastic tutor. If he had decided not to join Mark and co and had gone back to being a tutor, he would still have inspired a lot of musicians. I can't stress enough how much of a skill it is to have the patience and the humility to share knowledge and teach others what you know. It just reinforces what everyone who has met Myles says about him, the man is so humble and hasn't got a trace of ego about him, he just wants to make good music and to help everyone around him to succeed. When you have as much talent in both guitar and vocals as Myles Kennedy it would be easy to believe your own hype but the man just takes it in his stride and focuses on what matters. He's truly one of the greatest rock frontmen in history and He's still surprising people with new sides to his talent.

In m opinion, what elevates a great/excellent/amazing guitarist to a maestro, is the maestro, shares and teaches. Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Mike Dawes, Brian May, Keith Urban (I bet that threw some of you a curve), and all the others are maestros, precisely because the know the instrument, and what they are teaching so well, that they can make really complex music approachable. I can flat pick ok, I can finger pick pretty good, never could hybrid pick worth spit… but you know what? With this quality of music & teaching… I’m gonna learn this. It’s gonna take… Quite some time. Thanks Myles.

I like how it's a bigger challenge for him to describe what he's doing rather than actually playing it :D I mean it's sort of necessary in a lesson video, but anyway I think if you can' already figure it out by ear you're not likely to play it just yet. But anyway you gotta start somewhere I guess :) I'm not quite there yet but working on it.

After close review and inspection of the video, I can say that the video audio sync is slightly off but its so small that you'd barely notice it until you see that some notes don't sync up with the picking:\ but i love this video

@jeffreywindisch5357
@jeffreywindisch5357 10 жыл бұрын
My guess is the single note run at the end .... You can play most of the intro with just fingers ( it's how I do it) but that run at the end doesn't sound right without the pick
@axlrosea675
@axlrosea675 10 жыл бұрын
yeah, guess you're right. myles picks like this all the time though. must be easier for him like that.
6 жыл бұрын
think he does it to make the low notes pop up more, as they'd sound muffled in a band situation with another guitar, bass, drums, the attack on the pick helps a lot to make them more clear.

+Tyler Moreau I agree completely. With practice come progress. There are pieces that I have to attempt repeatedly...until I almost reach the point of giving up...then I remind myself that I have progressed. I trudge onward adding a couple measures of new music until I reach the end. Honestly, I don't know how many people learn like I do, but this is my way. Dude, don't feel bad if you have to keep replaying a piece...when frustration hits just listen to how far you've come!!! Good Luck!!!

I’ve been practicing alot on the part where he goes from having his middle finger on the 3rd fret low E to the 2nd fret low E... Been struggling with my coordination in the change for several hours, but I’m getting there 😄 I do it differently though, first I have a firm grip on the neck, then when I change I put my thumb on the back of the neck... aaand I try to have my pinky not curling down, so it’s been kind of a bitch 😂
