elvis the human was very religious and wanted his home life to be traditional. while they were still intimate, he wanted to wait till marriage to consummate their love, which they did. elvis the rock star on the other hand couldn’t resist the temptations and be faithful to anyone but she had her affairs as well.
@ashleetrieu83209 ай бұрын
@@larissalima7918I don’t know. I just can’t imagine that’s actually the case. I think he knew what he was doing, just trying to control every aspect of her life. Even sex. It would only happen when HE wanted it. Not her. Everything was to be on his terms. I don’t think he actually had some “morals” when it came to Priscilla. It's called "Madonna-Wh*re Complex". It is a theory by Freud, whose theories we wouldn't want to be right lmao but goddamn males prove it right every day. They separate all women into two categories: one woman that they respect because they don't have sex with her and all the other women who they don't respect because they have sex with them. And then when it comes to being intimate with the woman they respect they lose their minds because they can't wrap their heads around their untainted Madonna doing something that all those other wh*res do. So that's why they leave their wives and girlfriends to be "untainted" and go to other women to cheat on them, just like Elvis did here. Priscilla was his Madonna, and all of those women were wh*ores. And to be some male's Madonna isn't flattering at all, because they don't see you as a human being, they are tearing you to pieces in order to strip you away from your humanity and sexuality in order for you to remain pure. Just another of many examples of males being fcking weird about how they perceive female sexuality and women in general lmao

Priscilla the movie demonstrates the conditioning women, girls, feminine individuals, undergo to be subservient to their masculine counterpart. Sofia Coppola’s movies capture the feminine perspective perfectly
@sweetembrace670610 ай бұрын
this has nothing to do with femininity. Women are not oppressed on the basis of their presentation. Misogyny and patriarchy don't stop at long hair and dresses. If you think women with short hair that wear pants suddenly are not affected by men or a global patriarchy, you are not very bright. It is not progressive to ignore that the basis of women's oppression has nothing to do with liking pink and everything to do with being women, regardless of how masculine or feminine we are.

Girl i understand you. Once a month i also become disgustingly obsessed with a male to the point where i feel physically sick. Right now, it's Josh Hutcherson. Pretty sure next month will be Jacob Elordi. I hate myself

Priscilla the movie demonstrated the cinematic solitude of her life. The aesthetic displayed the pedestal of purity in which she was placed. Beautiful.

I really thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the history between Elvis and Priscilla. Would love to hear more "deep dives" into the history of such well known and beloved icons. (Thank you for the dedication of your time and energy to both educate and entertain us, Brittany!)

I hope you'll spend some time reading the real history of Elvis and Priscilla, because this deep dive comes up really short of reality. Try Peter Guralnick's definitive biography, Last Train to Memphis and Careless Love. Try reading Priscilla's book, too, because this movie is not the same portrayal.

the gr00ming of priscilla is so intriguing and so tragic...why didnt anybody step in, say something? did nobody raise their hand and say this is inappropriate? no. because it's Elvis.

Brittany doing a whole episode about the Priscilla movie and then giving it a 6.5 has me cackling (I know she's talking about the experiences of being a woman and being in a toxic relationship so I will kill myself if you mention that)

One thing to add to the creepiness of Elvis is that the military folks that were "friends" with him went around trying to find multiple young girls for him.....He was known to regularly target girls who were around 13 or 14. Their entire relationship was so strange and sad. as for your score totally understandable but at the same time I feel like a lot of Sofia Coppola's movies feel this way. Slow, dreamy, sad, character studies of women are her thing imo. and please review Saltburn. would love you to break down that cinematic rollercoaster.
