Thank you. I knew if I kept viewing these videos, someone would define Free-Mo.

Fabulous video! I’m thinking about going modular rather than permanent home layout that way my kids can take it with them. 😉

I love this layout. If you could, please interview Ed again when he comes back because I’m starting to believe (unfortunately) that the reports of 3985 never coming back again are true.

I thought FreeMo was born in Europe. The late great Wolfgang Duddler was from and in Germany and involved in FreeMo..Maybe what I saw (and this has got to be 5 yrs ago) was that Duddler was in the US..But I really don't think so. Coincidentally and ironically, 25+ yrs ago I was a member of the Belmont Shore MRRC in San Pedro, Ca, which created the very first modular MRRing with NTrak !!! I myself never cared for it, tho....M

Hi, please explain what Free Mo means and what is it?
@tsgmultimedia5 жыл бұрын
It was explained by Chris at the start of this layout tour. If you missed that part, you could watch again or just do an online search. Google is your friend! Let us know what you find out. :)

Hello Charlie, Free-Mo is based on "the Friendship of European railway modellers (FReundeskreis Europäischer MOdellbahner, FREMO)" and is a modular rail transport modelling standard originating in Germany in the early 1980s. In 1995, the North American Free-mo standards were based on those of FREMO, with a number of changes made to make it more compatible with North American standards and measuring systems. It allows modellers to take active part in creating and operating large layouts even if one doesn't have much room at home. In this way you can build just a section of a large layout and be an active part of it. Pure Synergy. :-)
