Moat Mountain is pretty awesome. Unfortunately, I haven't been there in many years. Probably one of the best pieces I've seen from there was a large cabinet sized parallel growth smokey amethyst crystal cluster. It was AMAZING!!! So, some pretty special pieces can be found there. Hey, that's pretty much where I grew up. As soon as I saw the covered bridge and the river view I almost jumped out of my chair. Awesome!!! Obviously wasn't last week. If you ever get back out that way, at least poke your head into Ruggles Mine down in Grafton, great mica pieces and some occasional quartz crystals, at least there was many years ago. I actually found a cathedral piece there that I just found again packed away in a box that I had completely forgotten about and it's soaking in soapy water as I type. If you see an old guide book that talks about the staurolite at Perch Pond in Lisbon, don't bother. It got bought and someone built a house there, I think I was one of the last people to get something out of there, that was probably 2 decades ago, maybe a bit less. There's great stuff up in the whole Northern New England area, plus it's downright beautiful. Glad to see you got up there after Herkimer.
