Free Pattern Friday - Bubbles part 1

Today, we are going to show you how to make a great scrap buster for beginners called Bubbles. You can make this idea with coffee filters from the dollar store and it uses a lot of fabric strings. You can also use crumb blocks if you wish. I'll show you in the next videos what you can do with these fun blocks!

I was going to use my spouse's account, but when I logged on to it, loud sirens blasted just about saying my computer was going to blow up with all kinds of Window's Security Alerts, warnings and screens, etc. So....I cannot use facebook at all due to their spamware or ransomware. Furthermore, I cannot chance trying to make an account in my name since the same thing could come on my computer! Could your SAL be done on MEWE or KZbin? I so want to be part of it.

Brenda, I just found this post. I used my coffee filters to make up blocks from small cutoff pieces from quilt blocks. I guess you call them crumbs. I thought I would back them with fabric and make either a coffee coaster, or maybe a cathedral type block. Looking forward to see what you make with yours. 😀

I use similar paper that I bought online - a huge case was inexpensive and easy to tear off - doctor exam paper. The 8" (head) paper I use to sew random scraps to. The bigger (body) is used for random projects.

Thanks Brenda. I have been stitching on tea bag paper fir years. I have never tried coffee filters though. I biy it by the meter.I don't rip it out but leave in. It stays soft through all my washings. Iau try a small project to see how the filters work put.

I can't see myself doing a port hole but I can definitely see cutting each circle into quadrants then taking four different ones and re-assembling so that each quadrant's strings go an opposite direction and then appliqueing that raw-edged onto a square. I did something similar with three different size circles and it is one of my favorite quilts. Thank you for the idea, Brenda!

i sis this trying to use up all of my cat fabrics froma business venture a friend and I had years ago. I made the bubbles, and also smaller ones with catfaces in the middle then I found I had a half bolt of fabric with fluries of spinning dotted colors, I am going to make a quilt with the vibrant cat bubbles at the bottom, and put the cat striped bubbles up and attheends of the tendlils. not sure how it will look, but I have also stuffed the bubbles slightly, so they raise up. just a thin batting, I am going to sew themon with blanket stitch as my arthritis will not let me applique them by hand.
