FREE ProAdvisor certification for bookkeepers (QuickBooks Online training)

If you want to start a bookkeeping business, the FREE ProAdvisor certification for QuickBooks Online is a must. I recommend it as an industry standard for all bookkeepers, and it's pretty fast to complete (the training is 8 hours, plus testing time). This is a tutorial on exactly how to find the ProAdvisor and also my tips and tricks. If you're starting out as a bookkeeper check out this video as well as all of my free resources.

Are you in the U.S.? I'm not familiar with that tax return, and I haven't heard of using your proadvisor info on taxes. You could double check with a tax preparer in your area to be sure, but I feel like the answer will be no.

I just completed the QuikBooks Online Accountant Training and am now studying QuickBooks Online to become a certified ProAdvisor. I am also studying Intuit's Certified Bookkeeper Professional Course on Coursera to get certified on this, too. I have my own Accounting Firm and am a Tax Preparer, too. I'm also studying for the IRS SEE exam to become a licensed Enrolled Agent. I'm kind of nervous about doing Bookkeeping right now because I am new to the field. Hmm, good question. That probably depends on your goals & personality. I was a bookkeeper for many years without Bookkeeper Launch (I took a community college course and was somewhat self-taught and got on-the-job experience). So, your education will already set you up in a big way. But, if you're looking for training that is all-encompassing and helps you start your business, learn QB, work with clients and has a community to ask questions (and email help) then you may want to invest in Bookkeeper Launch. Hi! There aren't rules about what education you need as a bookkeeper, so if you know what you're doing it's possible to get hired. But, to your point, just this certification alone probably isn't enough to jump in and start working with clients. You need to do a "recertification" each year, but that's much shorter and simpler. It just goes over any new stuff they've added to QBO. Good question!

I've been using QB Desktop since 2014, now have Accountant 2021 desktop. Do I have to pay for QBO if I just want ProAdvisor/ certification. I know I can "buy" QB Desktop certification which includes software AND an annual fee... what are my options so I'm not paying for something I already have? Thanks for your VERY informative videos!!

Great question! If you sign up for the Online Accountant version of QuickBooks, it's free for you. You would just pay for any clients you add to it. So no need to pay, we recommend you register your account and then you can take the ProAdvisor certification from there. -Gabe (FinePoints Admin)

When signing up for QBOA, can a personal email address be used and changed later or do you have to create a business email address? (same idea as your company name can be changed later)

It's easier if you have your business email address. You can change it later by calling Intuit, but not as easy to change as the company name. Good question!

I do not know whether there is a ProAdvisor certification in India. I did recently learn, however, that you have to pay for your QBO Accountant account. It's not free like it is here in the US.

I tried that but along with business name it asks what business type (llc, sole proprietorship etc) which I don’t have yet but if I select one it then asks for ein number and business address and stuff and won’t let me go forward.
