i was at sola airshow in stavanger norway and i can confirm the afterburners are just a little bit loud

the afterburner is realistic, i'm used to his sound and it's pretty accurate, the Rafale afterburner is designed to scare the enemy.

Think they'd already be suitably scared by the time they actually hear the sonic boom, as any foe would more than likely be under rubble, somewhere in a crater or on their way to see their maker.

The engine sound is, indeed, annoying. It's a high pitch sound. Closing the canopy doesn't really muffle it ...
