Really nice! Thank you so much for sharing! Tip: Remember to set the a6000 camera's "Drive Mode" to "Single Shooting". Otherwise app may crash in a6000 and you wil think it doesn't work. But it does like a charm!!!

If you have the latest version, you will see two new options not covered in this video, AEL and BRC3. According to the Author: "AEL This locks the exposure to the exposure of the first shot. BRC3 The app supports exposure bracketing. Set the mode to three-image exposure bracketing outside of the app and check BRC3 checkbox in the app. The app will always take three pictures. Keep in mind that the interval time must be large enough to take all three pictures."

@@rishipalsingh100 It takes three pictures because it will take one over exposed photo, one under exposed photo, and one photo which the right exposure giving you three options to pick from. Remember, this will take lot more space on your sd card.

Its super nice that we can get a free timelapse app especially because i cant even buy the sony app in my country. But there is one thing that it is missing and that is the picture profile. You can only shoot the timelapse with the standard picture profile which is not optimal to shoot with.....

Did you ever get it to turn on silent shooting? The version I've just downloaded doesn't have a second page, but a number of tick boxes below the options shown here. One is marked "SS", but whether the box is checked or not it still uses the manual shutter.

Now , this was great. I thank Hybrid shooter and Jonas. it is rare to have such a precise series of instructions given on you tube videos. Many vloggers assume we are familiar with things we may not be. Even as it was I had to be careful and slow to find the correct application, and download it. I know it's not photo based but the S&Q settings you set up 1fps at 60fps in 1080. It's an easy and quick in body way to capture clouds movement. ( not plant growth tho, not long enough intervals )

What really bothered me about the timelapse app on playmemories, is that you could not shoot AF-C. That is now solved. Thank You very much. (I have an underwater trolling system with kayak skegs (fins) attached to my sony a6000 underwater housing - AF-C sets the focus without me having to push the shutter button - impossible when the camera is 30 feet below the surface).

I haven't taken any yet with the new app - will this summer in the rockies and in the south pacific. In the past I used the time lapse from the sony playmemories site to troll with my camera and take underwater photos - some examples at this link: journeywest.com/20171007.html .I used high f stops to try to keep everything sharp since the focus can only be set once on shutter depress with the old app. Very excited I can now shoot continuous autofocus. Thank You.

just FYI all, it works great on rx100 series too ( tested on my mk4 ) - however silent shutter by default enabled, and you have to disable otherwise the app will crash and reboots the camera with default settings

I installed it on my A6000: the "silent shutter" does not work, because A6000 just does not support it. Anyway, another question: first time I tried it with a long exposure setting of 4 sec. (like for night exposure), it wouldn't work, I think the interval time not being long enough causes this. Is the interval time calculated from the start of each exposure? How should a setting be then, at least 6 s interval or even more?

I tried the app and I guess it's updated. I clicked a few time lapses and I have a few problems. The camera clicks 3 images at different shutter speeds (1/4000, 1/600 & 1/50). Idk why does it do that but when I stitch and play, the whole screen is just flickering due to the different brightnesses. I put my interval at 4s and 300 shots which is about a 10s stitched video but all that happens is bright, brighter and brightest.. how do I deal with this? Please help! Also I keep my aperture & iso at manual, hdr is off and white balance at manual as well!

Hey great tutorial! But my Sony a6300 can't install it, the pmca-gui say that there's a error while installing (UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0xe1 in position 1: invalid continuation byte). I tried starting as admin, desable antivirus, multiple usb connections... Nothing worked (I use windows). If anyone can help me pls

Hey, I know I'm three years late, but odds are that if you're taking the photo during the day it's purely cause of the exposure. If you're doing day shots and they come out extremely white it's cause you need an ND filter. Hope I helped.

Anyone having troubles with manual focus setting? Noticed that no matter I leave AF or MF before entering the app, with MF enabled in the app sometimes it still shoots with AF (no pattern, like it can randomly launch timelapse with AF or MF). And you can only see if AF is ON by turning off the timelapse and checking photos, then you come back to the app and start and pray again. The problem is during night timelapses where AF can miss and all photos are crap. :(

Hey ! The app is great. I have uploaded my first trial to KZbin. but i have a suggestion. The process drains battery a lot. Is is possible to turn off the LCD while waiting for next shot or until receiving user input ?

Thanks! I'm happy to hear that. I made measurements regarding the power consumption with the LCD screen the viewfinder or both off and there were no noticeable differences in battery life. The processor in these cameras is so inefficient that the screen has no impact on the battery performance.

I had to try this multiple times to get it to finally work. I was getting the error messages like many others. I did change the USB mode to Mass Storage and it finally took. I loaded the Time Lapse first and then went back and loaded the full version of the app.

When i use the app and have my camera set to onyl viewfinder, my screen still ends up lighting up when it starts taking pictures. Anyone have the same problem or know a fix?

You're welcome. Having the screen on is unfortunately not possible with this app.

@@TheHybridShooter but it there any other app for timelapsing which can allow me to adjust settings on the go? I mean, if i am shooting a sunset, i must update the settings while doing the timelapse...

Using external intervalometer is probably more suitable for that.
