I think the problem some viewers may be having is expecting to be held by the hand and shown in detail every aspect of how to execute these strums. This video is clearly titled "advanced strumming techniques" and therefore assumes that you already know how to play: it is about ideas to vary your playing and add different techniques. I have watched this a few times and always find it helpful and inspiring, so many thanks to Aaron for giving up his time to encourage people to play the uke a little better!

It is clearly titled “Free Ukulele Lesson - Advanced Strumming Techniques”. The reason I clicked on it is because I know how to play ukulele with basic strums. I’ve already seen people use advanced techniques but am having trouble doing it. So I clicked on the video labeled as a lesson in advanced techniques. Yes I expected hand holding because that is what the title implies.

Hey Joey man! I upgraded last year - most folks start on a £15er, but want something that sounds better fairly soon. Here's my honest opinion: 1) You pretty much get what you pay for, but also 2) Any ukulele designed and built as a proper instrument by a proper instrument maker is going to sound so much better than what you hold in your hands now. So save up as much as you can, try some ukes out, pay what is comfortable for you and then know in you heart "this is the best uke for me!" ...

I have long nails on my left hand, that I've shaped into pick like shapes - A lot of guitarists do this for fingerpicking and hand strumming - I'd know because I play guitar as well and that's the main reason why I grow them. But it doesn't matter because all stringed instrements that are played in this way is in principle the same. - Basically. grow them a bit, and shape them a bit the long smoothed sides of a plectrum. I find it helps. Also - file them so they don't get caught.

You are good af on the ukes, but I don’t feel I’ve learned from this lesson. I can already play simple songs like Surf but I’m looking to learn to play more advanced stuff. That’s how I ended up here. I’m gonna check for other videos that better explain but if you haven’t made one that truly shows how, please do. Some of us started playing at an older age it’s harder for us to learn because of this.

Some negative remarks on her ? When explaining strumming technique you have to link it to note durations timing and what time signature the music is written in. If you don't you are going to have students doing 4/4 in a 6/8 ect.

this video is helpful because it says once you have a chord progression, YOU can change the depth of your 'song' with just your strumming pattern. you are in complete control, so go tear shit up.
@demontweeker342910 жыл бұрын
Why do people post negative comments on here? If you don't find the lesson helpful, then fine, but most people do, so the problem is most likely to be with you, not the chap giving the lesson. There isn't a charge for the lesson, nor are you obligated to be watching it, so why would you moan? Some people are just never happy. Just go away and stop slagging off somebody who is doing a good thing.
@itsmejerkface9 жыл бұрын
+Demontweeker Well you sure did take the time to drop some negative reflection.

I am going to have to disagree. People have an opinion and KZbin allows them to share it. If the provider of the video wants to respond they can do so.

There's a difference between hate and constructive criticism. "I enjoyed watching you play, but you haven't shown the technique" would be a perfectly good example. This guy is undoubtedly an excellent player, he just needs some help learning to instruct. There's nothing so terrible in that, learning to teach is a skill in itself.
