In this free PCRI webinar Mark Moyad, MD, MPH sits down with Laurence Klotz, MD, to discuss active surveillance and a new type of focal therapy TULSA PRO. The most common treatments for localized prostate cancer treat the entire gland (i.e. radical prostatectomy and radiation). Focal therapies (e.g. TULSA PRO, HIFU, cryotherapy, electroporation, and focal radiation) treat a portion of the gland to control a tumor-if the tumor fits certain criteria-with less risk of urinary and sexual side effects than whole gland therapy. They will cover details about this new treatment and discuss the pros and cons.

Although Dr. Klotz says the chance of injury to the rectum is low with Tulsa, would it lower the risk to zero if Space Oar gel or water balloons were used?

Great interview. I'm planning to have Tulsa at UCLA. I've been on AS for 4 yrs Recent fusion biopsy same as 4 yrs ago. T1c 3+4

Hi PCRI people, Thank you for all the helpful information you always share. I have diagnosed with prostate cancer with a Gleason score 3+4 cancer, and per the last MRI scan the tumor is still encapsulated and is less than 1cm. I'm waiting for a Radical Robotic prostatectomy surgery to be scheduled here Quebec Canada. The MRI has more than 6 months and the biopsy confirming the cancer is about to be 6 months. We discarded brachytherapy due location of cancer in the anterior and the base portion of the prostate, very close to the urethra, so it can burn the urethra or undertreat the cancer with just one rice grain. I'm not too confident of SBRT here in Canada due to the fact, no fiducials or rectal separators are used for this procedure in Quebec in the public health system, and also because there are not long term studies (os far I haven't found them) that studies long term side effects from radiation (like a secondary cancer) or recurrence after 5 or 10 or 15 years ( I'm 49 years old, and expect to live at least another 49 :P ). so I wonder about this technique that was just approved in Canada. What about Recurrence of the cancer. What is a PET scan? I would appreciate your helpful comments. Thanks
