My husband Kurt has made garden benches using old bed headboards and odds and ends. He made three of those. We’ve made plant tables using cinder blocks and old doors or table tops. We have repurposed so very many things to make things for the garden! And we also do so many cuttings of our existing plants to create new plants. I’m thinking most of our garden is from cuttings. Lots of succulents, too, as well as spider plants. They just proliferate so well! I’ve painted those black nursery pots with acrylic paints to make decorative pots when I ran out of terracotta pots to paint. I’ve done flower and plant scenes and desert scenes and stripes-and plums once, too. I’m not a great painter, but it looks charming anyway. So a lot of our garden is “free.” I wish we could post pictures in the comments!

we are of the same mind. I just divided lambs ears, black eyed Susan’s and some chives, oreganos. My cosmos and sunflowers are all volunteers this year.

Yard looks great! I grew up in the south and many people use pine straw in flower beds! And if you buy it in bags (like mulch) it is much shorter!! You may start a trend in Maine!!❤ and.. you can use your blower to push straw in a pile!

Live the rock wave design, as you add more rows you could make a rainbow. Love how you are using what you have to make something pretty and being yourself joy. 🌈 💛☀️

You’re encouraging in all you do to me since I’m older than you by a few years. You live simply and affordably with repurposing items for in your home and plants for outdoors. I figure with age comes much knowledge. With your bad knee maybe try to find a rolling bench/stool for outside. I enjoy all you do on your videos and glad to see you’re not afraid to try your hand at sth new

Karen, we don’t have pine trees here in Southern California, but we have junipers in our yard. We have been gathering up lots of juniper spills for the past few years, very short-needled, and using those to half fill plant and flower pots to not use so much bagged soil. It really comes in handy when you don’t have bagged soil.

That fern you got out with the roots and planted is great! Even if you dug up one fern a week (not per day! 😬), that would be a lot over time. I don’t like digging up deep roots. It takes so much effort and it is not fun. But the feeling of doing that by yourself without having to ask for your husband’s help was super.

I like watching you figure life out (what way works best now). I need to do that in my particular season of life. I don't have the energy to do what I once did, or enough energy to do everything I once said I'd do once the kids were grown. That doesn't mean I can't do a little every day and make things nice.

How funny--I noticed that I see FEWER ads when I watch KZbin through the Roku on our tv rather than on the desktop. Great work "making something out of nothing" today in your garden/yard.

I watch all your videos, however, the out side yard work isn’t my favorite. I live in Arkansas and it’s 95 today with heat index of over 100. I don’t do yard work. Watering my plants is it. I do love your motivation videos

We use pinestraw to mulch everything - vegetables, roses, flower beds, vining fruit, bleuberry bushes, strawberry plants, etc, etc. It's great! We're in Alabama where we have long needle and short needle pine trees. What I don't like about them are the pine cones. 😅

You should put those ferns in DT pots and sell them. People do that kind of stuff on Facebook marketplace and they make a lot of money

Both the bench area and the rock border look lovely. I bought some annuals for my deck boxed a couple days ago then had a headache all day yesterday. I'm sewing a dress at the moment. Gardening may get pushed another day. 🌻🍄

12.30 minutes in. What would really help me is videos about self care. I am now learning to do things I enjoy. Before, I would "stress relax" because I did not feel in was ok to relax and enjoy myself. There was so much to do, and just sitting down really relaxing and enjoying my time is new and difficult. And spending money on it too... I bought myself a crossword magazine the other day. To me it is a huge step. Not so much for the expence, as for the principle using money just on me. I would love a video where you show your relaxing and hobbies. And talk about it. Just like the morning routine video a long time back when you did your prayer journal etc. ❤

How to take Celtic salt for hydration? Some people place some Celtic salt under their tongue and drink a glass of water, believing this will help hydration. How much Celtic salt should you consume daily? We need sodium in our diet but in limited amounts. The average healthy adult should consume no more than 2,300 milligrams per day.

People woth "green thumbs" only have those green thumbs because they accidentally killed more plants than those with "black thumbs". The difference lies in just not giving up.
