Very intersting and a much stronger castle seems to be emerging. Such a shame that the remedial measures were not identified as the shingle was washed away by the sea. surely it could be seen long ago that erosion was taking place. Seems they would rather wait until a collapse takes place and the rebuild costs sky rocket.

Well that is the way of the UK , any maintenance work even on railway bridges stopped years ago . Modern day thinking ? If it is not making a profit for the share holders , like the water companies ? leave it ? Jolley England . 🤔

Thanks for that.

A 'seawall' was built in front of so much of the castle that I don't see why it didn't continue along the whole front of the castle - it may have been cost but at the end of the day it has had to be done anyway and the cost of repair on top. It's not as if coastal erosion isn't natural or commonplace

Cheers for pinching all the shingle from the very end of the spit. Now because of long shore drift you can't gain entry to the river at low tide .And don't get me started on the new shingle bank next to the castle. I hope someone has been sacked due to this navigational nightmare 🤦
