The sea wall protection is important to any coastal line. They can make use of metal crap crushed into the form of cemented bricks to construct Sea Walls. It's not only cost-effective but also increases waste-management in a given area.

I recall reading in an old AA or RAC motoring guide from the 1920s that Milford - on - Sea village was actually so far from the sea because of cliff erosion. Any attempt to control nature will eventually backfire.

I wonder why it’s called Paddy’s gap? Interesting to see this sea damage documented. 🙂

It might sound silly but the answer is large groins pointing out to see and dumping a large amount of sand. It works in Queensland Australia.

when man first set eyes on the area they were greeted by cliffs. How did the cliffs get there? Erosion. First by ice then the sea. Hundreds of thousands of years. Before man decided it would be a nice place to populate.

1st , thank you for taking the time for the video, as it's always has an interest to me sea erosion to our coast line. But at the same time wounder why the hell did authorities let the erosion continue for soo bloody long knowing that the longer you leave the damage it will very quickly gets much much worse as it's the sea and not a stream or river or a lake erosion with lessons learnt by the south coast railway lines at Dawlish as an example incase there memory is fading. Which brings the next question, the cost????? Leaving a crack in the defence will bring the cost up up n up daily and of course because it's the bloody south everything more than triple the cost of the North of England and I'm thinking of the poor east coast where it's less populated and the houses don't cost millions like in this area with its own soo pretty little beach huts. And what's with the stone imported from bloody Norway for crist sake???????? And last but not least, they built the lovely sea wall ( of course in lovely stone rather bleak plain horrible big grey concrete like the rest of the country has to put up, IF, IF, they are lucky to have a sea defence wall at all ), but not only built but built at the same bloody height as it was when we all know the seas are rising which had caused the problem in the first place by waves bashing against the wall and washing away the earth n soil with the back wash of the wave. Why wasn't it built higher while they had the chance??? Or would that be blocking some nonce's stuck up twats view??? Well we couldn't have that could we. Hope the whole bloody lot falls in the sea with there property drowning you all.

Yeah I agree! I come from a town called Withernsea (up north) and we had a sea wall that lasted well over a hundred years with very little maintenance,,, if the job is done right first time it should last,,, you do a bodge job just the save a few pennies and it costs a lot more long term.. I remember a sea wall at a small village of Kilnsea ,it was built in the WW2, not well built ,,it is now completely gone and the water has gone a further 70/100yards... I,m sure with a little maintenance it could be still standing...Now that instance it has costed more long term then just a little mainenance..regards

Ummmm....sand is pulverized and powdered rocks. The cliffs used to be huge, and now...they're gone, in most areas. Building on the beach, is what causes erosion. Stop building on the beach, leave the sand alone, and allow the beach to rebuild itself, and enjoy it, WITHOUT having to own a piece of it! I predict the entire W coast, and parts of the East, will end up underwater, within 10 years. Who knows? Maybe CA will disappear, along with several other states, but one thing is certain: biblical shit is happening, and it's time to get biblical about it.

Sea wall built in the 1960’s says it all. Anything built then is crumbling away now, think of all the concrete housing estates that are no more.

Seawall from 60s miracle it lasted this long Pretty good job but still minimal rip rap needs to go 2x as far into water to make sure even uber storm waves break well out to sea and not surge over easily eroded lands Sea wall higher thicker curved to toss waves back See sea wall at Galveston Texas US Sheet piles should have been driven under seawall so it couldn't be under mined ever with another line under rip rap and probably another well inland of any possible high wave Landscaping should have included lines of boulders holding back rising shelving of lands so when uber storm does overtop everything land isn't instantly washed out and of course MASSIVE plantings to hold soils in place

If you just place rock on the shore, it won't save athing. You must compact the sand and soil, The waves will just wash the sand and soil out from under the rocks.
