Thank you, this is very useful for awkward fillets 🙏👍

Great video as always. I really enjoyed your custom fillet method. Looking forward to your next one!

Great video! Some details elaborating on why certain settings are chosen would be nice - what does unselecting frenet do? what's the difference beween continuity C0, G1 and G2, why does the last step about creating a parametric solid do, etc. Thanks a bunch!

*Manual Fillet Creation in CAD Software Using Surface Tools* * *0:00* Introduction: The video demonstrates how to create manual fillets (rounded edges) in CAD software, as the built-in tool has limitations. * *0:11* Default Fillet Tool Limitation: The default fillet tool fails when a larger fillet radius is required. * *0:47* Goal: The tutorial aims to show how to create a manual fillet with a desired radius using surface modeling. * *1:04* Initial Setup: Creates a basic solid model using extrusions from sketches. * *2:55* Cut Feature: A cut is made using another extruded shape, creating edges to be filleted. * *3:12* Default Fillet Failure: The default fillet tool fails with a radius of 5. * *3:50* Manual Fillet Approach: The video switches to using manual fillet using the surface workbench. * *4:04* Downgrading a Cut: The initial cut feature is cloned and downgraded to access the individual faces for modification. * *4:45* Creating a Group: A new group is created, and all the related faces are added to the group. * *5:19* Preparing for Fillet: The model is now prepared for the manual fillet process. * *5:23* First Fillet Sweep: Creates circles on the edge points for sweeping operations, each with a radius of 8, the fillet radius. * *6:33* Sweeping Circles: Uses sweep tools to create solid fillets. * *7:15* Cutting Solids: Cuts the model with the newly created sweep objects. * *7:35* Hiding the Circles: The circles are hidden to improve visibility. * *7:42* Creating a Blank Curve: A blank curve is created between two edges. The start and end sizes of the curve are set to 1. * *8:34* Sweeping Along Curve: The blank curve is used as the profile to sweep along an edge, creating a surface. * *9:04* Splitting Surfaces: A line is drawn on top view and then extruded to split a surface. * *9:51* Extrusion: The line is then extruded slightly. * *10:33* Surface Splitting: The extruded line is used to split the surface. * *11:19* Creating Blank Curve (again): Another blank curve is created between two split edges. The start and end parameters are set to 1 to make it tangent. * *11:55* Sweeping Again: Sweeps the new blank curve along an arc to generate a surface. * *12:32* Removing Surface: Removes part of the surface on one side, in preparation for mirroring. * *12:47* Mirroring: The created surface is mirrored to the other side of the model. * *13:58* Mirroring the Second Fillet: The previously created sweep for the other fillet is also mirrored to the opposite side. * *14:14* Filling Surface: Uses the "Filling" tool from the surface workbench to generate a surface between the edges. * *14:50* Union: Unions all faces to make creating the fill surface easier. * *15:22* Filling Again: The Filling tool is used again to create a smooth surface between the edges, and all surfaces are set to G1 contiuity. * *16:11* Removing unwanted surfaces: Removes extra faces to prep for a final fill. * *16:36* Filling: Uses the fill tool again to smooth the surface. * *16:51* Mirror: The final surface is mirrored across the model. * *17:02* Parameter Solid: Converts the surfaces to a final solid object. * *17:22* Final Result: The final result is achieved, and viewers can see the detailed manual fillet. I used gemini-2.0-flash-exp on rocketrecap dot com to summarize the transcript. Cost (if I didn't use the free tier): $-0.0161 Input tokens: 15130 Output tokens: 946

The fact that Part WB doesn’t have datum planes absolutely sucks 😢
@LFANS2001Ай бұрын
There is a way to create a plane in Part WB. Choose create primitives and click on "Plane"...

Huh? I had no problems with the fillet: 1) Select the straight edge, and make a fillet with R=8mm 2) Select the edge from the hole, and make a fillet with R=8mm
