I started out with the N30i, but I'm a side sleeper. It shifts too much which forced me to sleep with my face turned up. Two weeks of terrible sleep, I ordered the dreamwear. Wore it last night and slept 9 hours! It's the mask I tried during my sleep study but they gave me a Resmed and only had Resmed masks available. I had to switch to the dreamwear. It's so soft that I can sleep on my side and it just gives without shifting. Love it! (as much as anyone can LOVE a cpap mask 😏)

Why do you think you could not get used to the nasal cradle of the n30i? For the same reasons given in this video? Or because of the shape?

Wanted to try going from full face mask to nasal. Was going to stay with Resmed since all of my current equipment is made by them and the quality has been very good. This review made me go with the Dreamwear. So glad that I did. One week of very succesful use. Thanks Jason! Two thumbs up!

Your original reviews on the Dreamwear made me buy the Phillips product when I started my CPAP journey mid last year. I’ve got both the nasal and full versions of the Dreamwear and use the nasal 99% of the time. I had a small issue with it causing discomfort right at the bottom of the septum of my nose initially, but I just needed to toughen up. Going from 100 apnea’s an hour to 1-2 has been life changing. I should have had the sleep study done years ago. My fear of having a vacuum cleaner beside the bed (old school noisy machines) and having a massive mask with an elephant trunk off my face made me put it off. The Dreamwear does make me look a little like a Dr Seuss character but the ability to roll over in the night without thinking about the tube is brilliant. Thanks for your advice.

I just started using N30i and I love it. The hardness of the nasal pillow that you found uncomfortable I don’t even notice. I used to use a nasal mask that always pinched and I couldn’t get it to not leak. Bottom line I recommend the N30i highly.

Thanks for the comprehensive review. I have been using a CPAP machine for over 20 years and have gone through more than 20 different masks. Those that covered the face gave me claustrophobia, (which is what my initial test was with). The mask which covered my nose gave me a cold nose and kept me awake. I liked the nasal pillow masks but would develop pimples from them, (ouch!). Then I tried the Dreamwear a few months after it was released and have stayed with it ever since. Absolutely love it... and so does my wife. No noise and a really well dispersed exhale so my wife doesn't get blown on. I was going to try the N30i but your review convinced me to nix it. Thanks for the information. Chuck

I've used both and have to give the Dreamwear the win. Not only do I find it more comfortable, but it is way more durable and easier to clean. My N30i split on the stretchy accordian piece causing a big leak, so I replaced it. A few months later the cushion started becoming detached from the hard plastic. When it comes to cleaning, the soft face straps on the N30i can't be easily removed, whereas the Dreamwear has velcro for easy removal. Construction and silicone on the Dreamwear just seems to be of a much higher quality.

The n30i may be hard on your nose. But the fact that it curves more than the dreamwear makes it better for me because I have a narrow nose. I sleep on my side and the hard part does not dig in even when I nuzzle into the pillow. My respiratory specialist knew right away that it would be the best one for me because it wouldn't shift in the night. And it doesn't. So people with a narrow nose might prefer the n30i.

After trying several masks, I eventually landed on the DreamWear and used it for seven months, but it was not perfect. I had trouble with it sliding around under my nose and waking me up when I turned over. I used the fabric sleeves on both the side cheek tubing and top of my head tubing, thinking it might pull out less of my hair. My sleep doc suggested that I try the AirFit N30i and I am in my first trial week. I agree with you that the hard plastic on the AirFit is an uncomfotable problem, as is the diminished air flow by having two holes over DreamWear’s one air hole. I wish I had watched your comparison video before going for the fitting. I can go back and exchange the extra AirFits but will need to use the DreamWear mask two months longer. I did not time that quite right for my 90 day Medicare supply.

I have used a Philips Dreamsaver Bi-pap with a Dreamwear mask for about 3 1/2 years. I love the hose connection above my head enabling me to sleep in any position without fighting the hose. Recently I noticed I had decreased mask fit numbers, so I thought I might be mouth breathing due to allergies. I ordered the full face nasal pad and the headgear from Amazon and created a trial full face for stuffy nights. I wear a small frame, small pads, and it all fit together well. That night when I strapped on the full face contraption, I had to tighten the velcro quite a lot to get a seal. I was finally able to fall asleep (thanks, drugs) and got my eight hours. I awoke with a puffy face with strap marks that lasted all day. I've never used it again. I'll use the chin strap when I have a stuffy nose. Thanks for your terrific videos, they are fun and extremely informative.

Hi Lanky, I've been using the n30i for the past 2 months. I previously used the resmed n20 nasal mask which was horrible because it actually pinched my nose and made breathing more restricted even though it was the correct size. My experience with n30i for comfort has been good. The worst part of the n30i is the leakage very often being above 20 L/min. This is most likely due to the nose piece being so rigid it moves off the nose when smushed into the pillow. If you're a back sleeper it shouldn't be a problem. At least leakage doesn't blow up into the eye so it has still been comfortable. It's still disappointing not getting a score of 100 on the resmed app. An extra point to note in the comparison is the availability of full face and nasal pillows with the Dreamwear. This could be of benefit if you get a cold and need to have the full face mask on hand because you can't breathe through your nose. Thanks, you've now given me some good reasons to try the Dreamwear on my next purchase. Get a good sleep.

If I had seen your video I'd have gone with Dreamwear with such a nice review. But I have to say I got the N30i and am thrilled with it. I had been in a full face mask for 2 years and am so relieved to have finally tried one of these. I was told (because I panicked when first trying on masks and felt I needed to gasp for air) that I'd need a full face mask. Now that I know I can keep my mouth closed I wanted to try a cushion. I am so happy. Mine doesn't hurt anywhere at any time. Sometimes the strap behind my head does slip up, but no a big deal. I just move it back where it belongs

Like so many, I’ve been through a lot of masks. I like the Dreamwear nasal pillow that you reviewed here, but as a side sleeper, that soft silicone leaked a lot for me. The ResMed N30i hurt me too. When I finally got the standard P30, I found my perfect mask. Great review and side-by-side comparison.

13 yrs with CPAP now, and am an MD. Have used most everything, often in past rotating types during the week. But have been about 99% Dreamwear for 3 yrs now. Nothing has ever broken. but the head strap gets a little saggy after about a year, so must replace. Have used both cushions and pillows. Easy to pack, even taken backpacking. Is the lightest and smallest, except for a cloth thingy I would only use in an emergency. The are hard to clean, as they get yellow gunk. I use both thin and wide brushes, cleaning thru both the upper opening and sides. Soaking in a little powdered Cascade works wonder to cut grease. Also shooting warm water from the faucet thru the top vent cleans well. Quick dries, or just shake it out. Have not used the other one, nor plan too. It looks bulkier, less pliable, and would not want to try and clean that accordion part. Thanks you, good review.

I have used both and use the wide on both. I find the ResMed more comfortable because of the accordian. I have a larger head and the nasal pad on the DreamWear digs in under my nose and the ResMed N30 doesn't do that for me. The N30i doesn't bother my cheeks at the nasal pad ends except when i am first nestling my head into the pillow on my side. This can push the pad up, but it doesn't leak, so it's no issue. With the DreamWear I would have to pull the pad out for a bit to get the pressure off. I could not adjust the Dreamwear in any way like moving the top forward enough to relieve the nose pressure. I LOVE the open design of both and the ease of use of both. I don't like the pillows anymore on anything. Thanks for telling me about the nasal pad and telling me the proper setting on the machine (pillow, not nasal).

Hi Short-haired Jason- Thanks for your channel & all the helpful info you have on it. I've been using the Dreamwear mask for a couple of years, & it really has been life-changing for me. I have heard you say a couple of times in your videos about how unnecessary it is to have the quick tube release at the top of the mask since the mask is so easy to take on and off. However, for us "long-haired" freaky people that's not the case, so the quick release is super helpful. When I put the mask on at night, I first put my hair in a ponytail, then pull the ponytail in between the top of the mask & the headstrap. After the mask is on & situated, I then take the ponytail down so my hair is laying over the strap. This keeps the headstrap from slipping and riding up during the night & keeps me from having mushed, mask-hair the next day (a condition very similar to hat-hair). A couple of my other long-haired freaky friends have the same mask & do the same thing with their hair at night. This means the quick release at the top of the mask is super helpful if we get up during the night so that we don't have to go thru the whole hair-do scene again to take the whole mask on & off. Anyways, just thought I'd share this little tidbit with you & your other long-haired, freaky subscribers, so you'd have a better understanding that our struggle for good hair while wearing a CPAP mask is real. 😉 Thanks, Jason!!

The outline where the air comes out into your nostrils on the dreamwear starts to cut into the skin (lower area of the nostril) after the 5 hour mark. I can only stay asleep 5-6 hours max in the dreamwear. But you're also right about the N30i. 4 hours max for me too.

Thanks for posting. I've been using a Respironics Comfort Gel nasal mask for years, but wanted to try something else. The Dreamwear and N30I were on my short list until one of your reviewers mentioned constraints of cleaning the tubing that flows down from the top of the head down either side of the face. That was the deal breaker for me. Think I'll try either the Resmed Airfit N20 or Mirage Activa LT Nasal that I can easily periodically clean/disinfect.

I tried the Resmed N30i and here's my review: Clever engineering but leaks. Clever in the sense that you can easily unclip to go to the toilet. The self adjustment feature is good because although in this video review, he claims it can be worked around with the Philips Dreamwear, the position on your head will alter through the night. Ultimately however, when I turned on my side, it would leak badly. If I tightened it to minimise movement, I'd wake up with a red, sore nose. So it sits in my drawer, unused

I have been sleeping with my new Philips Dreamwear nose cushion for about 2 weeks. While I love almost everything about it (more comfortable, better sleep, no marks on my face in the morning, less air blowing towards my wife :-), it irritates the base of my septum where it meets my upper lip to the point where it has been bleeding a bit. It seems like it might be progressively getting better as my septum toughens up, but I don't know.

It sat comfortably and did not aggravate my nose, nor did it slide around when I moved my head. 10 hours…woo hoo😃. Weird thing, the small ResMed pillow is what I used for years with the Swift FX headgear…too soft. The P30i is a great improvement.

I've tried both the firmer side channel ResMed and the sloppy floppy Dreamwear. Without CPAP, I have an API of 96, so when that Phillips side channel crushes, the other one does NOT take up the slack. With the N30i, that accordion part, or area below just don't crush nearly as much as the flimsy competitor.

I was still on a 3-month trial where my insurance would cover up to three masks, and I was trying to adapt to the Dreamwear, which I still hadn't quite dialed in. It often felt like I was just not getting enough air and I was frustrated, but I really liked the minimalism of the mask. I learned about the N301 just before the insurance deadline and my DME hustled to get it for me in time. I've been using the N30i for nearly 3 months now, and personally find the it much more comfortable than the Dreamwear. The rigid plastic doesn't hurt my nose -- I don't feel it at all -- and the curvature of the nose piece in size small makes for a better fit for me. I get a lot more air flow with this one, and I think that may be due to that curvature. Ultimately the differences between the masks are pretty subtle, but N301 works great for me. Maybe it's a size thing: I'm a petite woman using the small frame and small cushion. Also at moment my APAP pressure is set 9 to 16 and rarely goes above 11. But as Jason says, it's really about what works best for you. If you like the idea of the Dreamwear but it's just not working right for you, the Resmed mask may just do it. Or vice-versa.

I wore the Dreamwear for over 5 years with no problems then switched to a different supply company and they fitted me with the AirFit N30i and then the problems started. I really tried for 6 months to make the adjustment and just couldn't. Lots of air leak and had difficulty breathing. Finally went back to the DreamWear and now sleeping good again. The AirFit plastic connectors was the main problem and the accordion straps irritated my scalp. I won't go back to the AirFit.

I had used the Dreamwear for nearly 2 years before switching to the ResMed n30i now for 3 months. My experience is that the Dreamwear was wonderful and it only presented very slight issues of concern. It definitely slipped upwards on my head during the night and I was never able to make a good correction for that no matter what I did. As a result was I always getting air leaks as I moved about . For whatever the reason, I do not seem to have that problem with the ResMed mask and given the two reasons Jason stated at the beginning of his review AND the fact that I do not experience the upper lip problem that he did with the hard plastic of the nose cushion, I have decided to continue using the ResMed n30i mask. However, I believe Jason is completely correct in stating that this comes down to personal opinion. Both are VERY GOOD masks for those who are not mouth breathers.

@@paulbader5844 It might fit, but may not make much of a difference. The frames are constructed slightly differently (I've used both) and all the headgear does is keep it in place, really.

I like the resmed one much better. Nose piece and frame more comfortable. I have a small head and I found the accordion kept the frame from constantly sliding over my hair and out of place like the dream wear.

I've been using the Dreamwear for years and I like it. I use the nasal pillows that stick part way in your nose. I use the quick release every day because I find it a little bit easier to take it off after its disconnected and then I can stash the mask away from my cats. lol. The plastic connector that connects the arm to the nose piece has come unglued and creates a little bit of a leak. I'm thinking of getting the P30i the version with the nasal pillows. My complaint with the Dreamwear is the little air slit on the front is too noisy for me. It gets annoying. Now the *P*30i (not the N30i you reviewed) has a little screen that is supposed to disperse the air there and is said to be quieter. I've just grown tired of the air shooting out of the front of the Dreamwear!

I have been wearing the Dreamwear for 6 months. I am a female with thin, long hair. The only way I can keep the back from slipping up constantly is by making a loose ponytail and hooking the top strap underneath my ponytail. It still slips up a bit but is manageable.

It’s interesting that they always have men demonstrating the masks - why no women? I have just started using the N20i (probably about my 5th mask over a period of 18 months) as they ALL have some problems! I like the fact that there’s so little actually on my face with this one as I always got a red face and nose using the previous one which was the N20 BUT I do find that the strap at the back of my head slips up. I have short fine hair and a small head and I am using the small frame and small nose piece. I was thinking of chucking the whole thing as I dislike the CPAP so much but as I have many events some nights, could be more than 30 per hour, I have been told that is a strain on my heart which obviously is not good. So will just have to carry on although I do not feel any more rested or less tired!

I'm new to CPAP and was given the n30i for my trial but switched to dream wear based upon this video after I was having problems. I couldn't get a good seal and felt the same way as you about the pressure under the nose from the hard plastic. I sleep without issues with the dream wear.

Great reviews. At first my Phillips didnt work right... but then i was sent an upgraded nasal pillow and works great. Unfortunately i have recently noticed some mouth leakage. i wake up drooling. Also one nostril seems to clog when i switch sides. Not the mask's fault, and i'm still working on this.

I found that mouth breathing gave me a sore throat, and a plugged nostril. I got a chin strap to hold my mouth shut and it made a big improvement, however it is gradually starting to return; I found a cervical collar more comfortable than a chin strap, possibly time to change it out. Tip: I found that if one nostril was plugged, that sleeping with the clear nostril closest to the pillow allowed the plugged nostril to clear. I'd be curious to find out how others cope with mouth breathing - I tried a full mask and was unhappy with it - if I had to cough, had to rip it off.

So I have the dreamwear with both the added nasal pillows and the open nasal option. I am a side and stomach sleeper and the issue I face the most is that the air gets cut off due to it having to travel down the sides of the mask to get to the output.

Matthew Glassman i use the dreamwear with the gel nasal pillows and I often feel like it takes too much effort to get air or I’m breathing too much exhale when I first lay down it’s quite annoying also the pillows annoy my nose sometimes when I try to side sleep. Main thing though it feeling like the airflow isn’t enough when it should be fine.

I have tried many different masks over the last 20 years. Nothing has come close to the comfort and fit of this Dreamwear mask. I hate masks that cover my nose because I sweat inside them and I wake up repeatedly, often removing mask in my sleep. Nasal pillows put a great amount of upward inward pressure on my nostrils. This is a problem because I have a perforated septum. My nose gets sore because of the upward pressure I have to place on my nostrils to maintain a seal. This Dreamwear mask puts NO pressure on my nose. The pressure points are on my ample cheek bones, and I have never been sore after a night of sleep. Most comfortable, best-fittting mask ever.

I don't know your entire situation, so I'm just speaking in general when I say this: Make sure that you've actually "failed" a nasal or nasal pillow mask before deeming yourself a "Mouth Breather". A good starting point is to ask yourself: Can I breathe through my nose during the day?" If not, then you very likely need a FFM. If you can, then you should really give a nasal or nasal pillow mask a serious try....with heated humidity and possibly something to encourage your mouth to stay closed. (for reasons other than nasal congestion or deviated septum).
@alpine4441

@@Freecpapadvice I do tend to have a lot of nasal congestion. I have a deviated septum as well. When I got my first machine last June the clinician insisted I try a nasal pillow. I tried it for a week and changed to the Simplus. I have since tried the F30 after watching your review. I have not had as much success with the F30 compared to the Simplus. I have issues with air leakage around the nose. I use the small cushion. I want to try the medium but I assume that will make the issue worst since the nose section in the mask would be much bigger. I love watching you videos and keep up the Good work.

I have used the ResMed AirFit P10 nasal pillow for about five years when suddenly it started to irritate the leading edge of the skin on both sides of the septum. I did try the Dreamworks but it too irritated the skin at the junction of lip and septum. Both caused an open wound. A lot of pain from such a small wound. I'm now using an F&P Brevida nasal pillow but it wets out. I'm impatiently waiting for my nose to completely heal and then I will try the AirFit P10 with large pillows. The search continues.

Tried the DreamWear mask last night. Horrible. Felt like someone was trying to rip my nose off. So disappointed. I went for large frame but it was still putting a LOT of pressure on my nose. Also, having the air blown straight into my nostrils was uncomfortable. I removed the mask around 12am and went back to the Resmed N20 (which I don't like much either). But even with about 2 hours of using the DreamWear last night my nose is still raw this morning. Maybe I fitted the mask wrong but I don't think so. I so wanted this to work. I find the Resmed N20 uncomfortable because the heat and humidity builds up, making my nose itchy. I thought the under-the-nose design would be better. But the amount of pressure it puts on my nose, pulling it upward, is intolerable. It also makes a lot of noise.
