I think Davide has removed the noseclip in order to not have anything but the ok sign to do for the protocol. Maybe he didn’t want to risk that hypoxia could bring him to fail. Btw, grande Davide!

Yes, this is why freedivers usually do it. But normally they remove the nose clip just a few meters before reaching the surface...

I know that Natalia Molchanova did a VWT dive without a noseclip. During the decent she pinched here nose to equalize. And on the ascent she swam up with her monofing like David did. There are some pool divers like Mateusz Malina who don't use any facial equipment. He sad he is doing it to get the maximum diving response. Maybe thats why David removed the noseclip at the bottom.

Yes, in the pool disciplines you can see it more often, but for the depth, it was a surprise to me

noseclip off could give more dive reflex. Maybe he also sucked the water in to enhance the effect. Btw, I think your commentary for each dive should contain info the descent time / ascent time, and calculate the speed of both so we can learn which technics are efficient and not. For example, in this davide dive, his descent speed wasn't as quick as what I recalled last year, but his ascent speed was staggering 1.51 m/s indicating that his buoyancy is probably pretty deep (20 something ?) . While Arnaud high speed kicking on the ascent didn't make him quick. It's merely above 1m/s, he probably dove a bit heavy. Or Fatima short pull was actually made her very fast. Analyzing dives beforehand can make the commentary more informative, you could go into more detail separating a dive into sections, regenerate graph from the video and all that
