I am so thankful for those few people that become wild life photographers and videographers. They are so adventurous and yet unrelentingly patient. if they weren’t traveling all the time I bet they make the greatest husbands and dads. They put themselves and are comfortable in the most diverse environments. Great documentary.

Did not everyone with common sense think "dude, you're WAY too close," the instant the camera showed that there was an infant among the whale? I get that the dude's excited, but that was almost tragically idiotic of him.

@prosequence25364 жыл бұрын
yeah, almost correct and yet completely wrong. The term amphibian before scientific classification simply only meant something that can switch from an aquatic to a terrestrial environment as easily as we walk from room to room. After scientific definitions became concrete and specific classification, it came to mean those vertebrates passively breathing through their skin and whose young are born in and juveniles develop under water and with external gills as tadpoles. In a very reverse sense sea turtles are born on land while adults (mainly pregnant females) rarely return to land. Dragonflies and mayflies hatch and spend their larval stage underwater and adults live on the wing though a few mayfly species (again pregnant mothers) actually dive under water to place their eggs. Ultimately had the suffix ous been used, i.e. sea turtles are amphibious, which accent permitting he may have... in that case, would you at a painted art gallery critique disparagingly while ignoring the priceless art complain about the drapes?
@kittmouri70984 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I noticed that as well and...it made me question the scientific validity of the rest of the documentary. I mean, to error is human, but this production surely had an editor and yet...no one caught that? Had they said, "amphibious", that would have been acceptable, but to inaccurately name the classification like that...well...😮

He seemed woefully ignorant about Sperm Whales. We do know lots more about them, even 3-5 years ago when this was shot. The danger was not of a sperm whale biting, if anyone of those females wanted they could’ve stunned him, even killed him with their sonar/echo location/clicks. They are the loudest animal in the world. Their clicks can be heard 5 miles away. A medium click from them to him in the water would be enough to make him pass out. A louder one would burst out eardrums. Full blast would rupture everything! Also as a side note, if he was hit with a fluke or tail, even by accident there would be broken bones. On purpose, he’d be smashed. So these ladies, with the largest brain in the world, that has all the same areas we have for empathy and memory, including a larger prefrontal cortex with far more folds than ours, simply herded the stupid human back to the boat!

What comes out of all the videos I've watched concerning the Oceans, is WE are going to be its demise. Whether it be over fishing of everything including Krill. using Factory ships We are taking TONS of krill out of the oceans, For marine mammals such as whales - food is not only extremely important for their survival it’s also important for *maintaining balance* in the oceans ecosystem. And that's another story,

It’s a new baby 💜💙🐋🐳. . All the females stay by to help mommy, and baby. Their behavior is a lot like ours . Amazing beautiful animals. I love the clicking noise Sperm Whales make . Scientists in the water say the clicks are so loud it goes right through them . No wonder their clicks stun prey . I love learning about different species of whales. I love Orcas, even though they’re technically dolphins 🐬. Lately The Humpback whale are becoming another favorite species. Ok Belugas too . Oh hell all of them 💜💙. I’m fascinated by them. Hopefully populations will be recover if Greece implements corridors, and approved laws against over reacting in fishing activities, Propellants are always causing damage to sperm whales, when ships are traveling in the same route. Nets are other major risks. It was dangerous to approach the pod, moreover if a calf was newly born. I was wondering about sperm whales’s sounds while approaching them.! Rare sounds from monk seals too

So they say that they can't go in the cave because their smell might make the mother abandon her baby, and then a few minutes later they're taking samples from the baby? Along with that stupid act of getting too close to whales in a birthing, this guy puts out an arrogance and a general attitude of ignorance that really doesn't sit right with me.
