As someone born and educated in england I didn't know anything about the Easter rising or any other Irish history until I spent a couple of years living in Eire. Even what cromwell did was news to me. I feel it's a great shame pupils are not taught about this in uk schools, we deserve to know.

Public Hospitals, Schools even main city streets should bear the names of these women and others that gave their lives for Irish freedom. These should be the heroes of every Irish female yet we barely know their names. I feel very blessed to have been able to go to a school on King's Inn Street and to have passed by the GPO on a daily basis for all of my school years knowing so well that Irish women and men gave their lives in the same streets. For ever grateful to their courage. May they all rest in light, power and peace.

Ireland has a deep and divided history. I understand the Catholics want to be free. However, having shot soldiers, who were just doing their job - poor men fighting a rich man's war. The rebels wanted their wounded to be treated in hospital. Once you have murdered someone in cold blood you have lost all rights
