Meet those victims lucky enough to have survived. Find out from these people directly what happened during those life-changing seconds...When Sharks Attack. Sharks are the ocean's ultimate predators. At the top of the food chain, many species of sharks are capable of killing quickly and efficiently anything they attack. Sharks do also attack people, and with more human activity concentrated on the coastlines of the world, these attacks are becoming more common. While attacks are more frequent, most are not fatal - the shark lets its victim live, to swim another day. Meet those victims lucky enough to have survived. Find out from these people directly what happened during those life-changing seconds...When Sharks Attack. Available in the USA, CAN, AUS, NZ, Indonesia, India, Philippines, Malaysia, South Africa, Kenia, Sweden and the Netherlands. #freedocumentary

At the end of the day, all these "researchers" and "experts" can't stop a single attack, so what are they doing involved with shark attack videos?? Who cares HOW the sharks jaw lacerated the person, it did plenty of damage and no human can say why any attack happened, except for the human was in its home! You either play in a wild animals world and deal with consequences or you don't play in their home and are guaranteed not to be bit. Why did the shark attack, oh yeah because you looked like food or any other shark reason. At the end of the day, does it matter why the shark ate your kid? Was it just a taste test? Gee you people need to justify your existence to keep doing the job of believing you're helping anyone not be bit or killed.

I am Puerto Rican and on Flamingo beach on the island of Culebra that belongs to Puerto Rico, a spectacular beach, I was swimming further outside when a young tiger shark bit my right ankle, literally leaving it hanging on the foot. I saw him. Thank God some people who were in a boat nearby saw my movements in the water and heard the screams and pulled me out of the water. I think it was an exploratory bite because it did not come back to continue biting, thank God and that was all my fear. They took me to the hospital to the big island in a plane quickly and I did not lose my foot, but I was traumatized and I have not returned to swim because I am afraid and I see shadows in the water. The next shark that wants to bite me will have to come ashore for me. No more!

That guy who feeds the sharks and lost part of his calf is endangering people. Teaching sharks to approach and associate people with food is a very bad idea. What about all the people wading in who don't have any food and don't know to be aware of these sharks that have been conditioned to come and feed when humans enter the water?

Conditioning with an "easy meal" is what has caused the Stingrays out in Cayman to become aggressive. If the weather has been boat unfriendly and no visitors have been there for awahile, the Stingrays become competitive for the handouts. If you don't understand grinding plates, that can make for an unpleasant visit.

Very irresponsible and complete disregard and disrespectful to feed any any apex predator this way.ALL predators find ways to use least amount of energy to predate.Learning an easy energy free meal from humans is not only gonna get shark killed if there behavior seems treating but dangerous to humans..Bottom line is we really should just leave them be and appreciate them when we do cross paths. It would be an outrage to people if they came up on land and ate us..But they don't. WE seek them out play in their world and then say how dare they hurt us..its human ego and scence of entitlement that thinks we have the right..WE DO NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO DO THIS.

Great whites, bull sharks, and tiger sharks are not essential components of the environment. There are hundreds of other shark species capable of fulfilling the roles of these large predators. It's important to avoid perpetuating misleading information promoted by the environmental industry, which profits from well-intentioned but gullible individuals. Earth belongs to humanity, and this includes our oceans. We have the ability to shape and steward our planet, creating a balanced environment. IT IS CALLED TERRAFORMING , Start hunting sharks again - install machine gun on helicopter , start patrolling areas where people swim and get rid off sharks big enough to attack humans . Sharks species which attack humans are useless . hunting sharks instills fear of humans in sharks and that is also additional deterrent , use bang stick , spear gun etc show sharks who is the boss That's how it is done

I was involved in a shark encounter. I was 13 at the time, off the coast of Spain. Someone gave me an adult ocean kayak to try out. I went too far, and got a bit lost. I was doing well handling it, really enjoying the sight of sunlight on the water, the noise of the little waves, and the smell of the sea. When I looked around properly, though, I realized I was very far from the dock, and was in some kind of current pulling me out. I started paddling hard to try to get back to the dock, but I was having trouble turning or controlling the kayak. Next thing I know, something large and dark is moving underneath me. The kayak was about 6ft long, this thing was way bigger. I realised it was a shark by the outline. It cruised around a bit, circled me, getting closer and closer. Then it started to bump the canoe, before it disappeared from my sight. After what felt like forever, it attacked my kayak and tossed me out of it. I was terrified, because it seemed to just blend into the shadows. The attack was so sudden, and vicious, but the initial chaos ended scarily fast. One second it was there, the next, it seemed to be gone. It just vanished into the deep water around me. I had to keep ducking my head under the water to try to spot it. It was hard to do so. I think it was a tiger shark, but I am really not sure. It kept coming back, again and again. I don't think it was actively trying to bite me, an animal that big, if it wanted to grab or kill me, I'd have died. I was terrified. A moment I'd see it, then it just faded into the shadows, when I was looking down on it. I would pick up it's movements for a couple of seconds, then I'd lose it again. I kept my legs tucked up as much as I could, and tried to keep it in sight. I remembered a documentary I had watched, that their eyes and nose are sensitive. So, whenever it came close, I poked at it with the paddle under the water, around the head. I remember getting really angry, and screaming at it: swearing, even under water. It's skin was rough, and it moved a lot faster than you would expect for such a big animal. It was also completely silent. I thought I was going to die. But I was hoping if I stayed as focused as possible and didn't thrash around, I'd be OK. I eventually hit it in the eye with the paddle, and it vanished again. After that it kept it's distance. The plastic bits of the paddle were shredded, the metal bit saved me from a bite I think. I couldn't get back into the kayak, I was not strong enough to turn it back over. So i had to hold onto it and very slowly do the leg part of breast stroke to make my way back to shore. I kept stopping to check where the shark was at. It followed me until I got into shallow water. It kept circling around, I don't know how, but my instincts really helped. I would feel cold, then suddenly I'd get a feeling that I just absolutely needed to find out where the shark was at. Every time that happened, I stopped, and forced myself to go underwater. Each time, it was looking at me, or getting closer. So I would jab out in its direction with the paddle, and it would turn away, before it got too close again. I ended up stepping on all sorts of sea urchins, and I was covered in scrapes by the time I found a place to get out of the water. But I didn't feel any of those injuries until much later. I had urchin spines in my feet, bruises, scrapes from rocks, cuts on my legs, ankles and arms where I was scrambling up over rocks in a panic. I left the kayak in the water, it's owner had to go in and get it. I only started crying and freaking out after I found my family, when I was on shore again. The kayak had marks, but my family did not believe me, they didn't see those marks. I know what I saw though. There's no mistaking a shark with something else. I won't go into the sea again. I'm terrified of the idea of a shark being anywhere near me. It took a long time before I could even go into a swimming pool. Even to this day, I end up ducking down to peer under the water in pools. Logically, I know there are no sharks in a swimming pool, but I can't seem to help it. I still like being in the water, but sometimes I just can't muster up the courage to swim. I don't know if I nearly died that day, but I felt like I was going to. I just remember how time seemed to drag out: that feeling where everything seems to stand still. Just watching that thing come closer, then disappear right in front of my eyes when it swam down will forever haunt me. I had to get many urchin spines removed from my feet, along with bits of coral and stones. It was excruciatingly painful, and I had a terrible sun burn. My parents were not to blame, they were watching, but had lost me in the current and did not know where I was. The weird thing is, I stayed completely calm when I got back to shore, until I could find them. It felt like my feelings were frozen, I was very cold. It wasn't until I found them that I broke down into hysterical yelling and crying. Up until that moment, I felt numb: when they hugged me I just lost it. I can watch videos like this, but they do give me the chills during it. I think it was more curiosity than an attack, or maybe the shark being territorial. I'm just glad I managed to keep it in sight as much as I was able to, and got out of it without injury. Now that I am older, I understand that I probably caught the shark's attention by thrashing hard to turn the kayak. It thought I was a prey animal in distress, gave the kayak an exploratory bite. I may have saved my life by hurting it with the paddle. I am very greatful to the documentary programmes I watched in my childhood. If I had not known to keep it in sight, I would have had a stealth attack on me, and I'd wouldn't be here. But it was luck, I'm quite sure: if I hadn't hit it in the eye, I dread to think what would have happened. I was on my own, so an opportunity to see if I was viable prey. I don't blame the shark, I was in it's environment, and should have taken more care.

I agree, so many people survive as the shark does an investigative bite, they have exceptional vision, so I don’t think it’s mistaken identity. If you watch them attack seals, there is no way we would survive the initial attack, imagine getting hit with the force of a small car, with saw like blades on the front. Generally we are too bony for Great Whites, they have a short intestinal tract that can’t cope well with bone and tough meat. That’s why they like the blubber of seals and whales, no bone and easier to digest.

We were in the ocean an hour earlier but reef sharks , hammerheads and bulls had been spotted in that area all week so we got out of water. I suddenly see a man instantly start screaming and kicking / punching . He clearly was being attacked and everyone ran towards him to help but shark let go and he hopped limped out of water and collapsed on shoreline. I took off my shirt wrapped in turner kit fashion around his thigh another guy wrapped a shirt in turner kit style around calf . EMS on scene in minutes and he was taken to hospital . He had multiple surgeries to repair buttocks, thigh and calf - ultimately losing his leg . The culprit was a bull shark who attacked ( bit ) him multiple times . He told me shark ripped his calf off first but happened so fast he didn’t know exactly what happened until he saw shark coming for him again , mouth wide open . Sad but true and scary story . Time of day when attacked- 5:20pm …… that’s a low light time of day in the water , almost dusk . Not very good time to be in water especially in an area highly populated with tigers and bulls .

One of the scariest shark attacks took place in 1959 at Baker Beach in San Francisco. 18 year old Albert Kogler was attacked by a 12 foot Great White. His college friend Shirley O'Neill heard him scream and managed to rescue him by getting her arm around Kogler's back and pulling away from the shark. Although she managed to get him to shore, he died in hospital 2.5 hrs later. In 1960, President J. F. Kennedy would award Ms. O'Neill the Young American Medal for Bravery for her rescue of Kogler. This attack is one that's not routinely covered in documentaries about shark attack.

No matter what there is always some percentage of risk being taken when you enter the ocean. However I truly do believe there are certain things one can watch for or do to help lower the percentages of having a shark encounter. One is to NOT go into the water during dusk or dawn because those are common times that sharks are actively hunting prey. Another is to watch for signs of large schools of bait fish in the area, bait fish attract larger fish and larger fish attract sharks. Also don't hangout in areas populated with seals, especially if the seals are acting erratic or spooked.

As we venture out into a domain we requiring specialised equioment and techniques the risk is there - in the name of understanding and gaining knowledge. It always will be. When a predator attacks a human, it is easily written off as an accident. But we cannot know the mind of the animal anymore than the mind of the animal can know the human mind.

Grade 9 science I did a project and study on sharks. I got the highest mark ide ever got in science. I continued my studies on them. They are an amazing fish that keep our oceans in balance. Our creator knew they had to keep our oceans in check. Respect them. I get so mad when I see Asians catching sharks cutting their fins off while they are alive and then throwing them back in the ocean. It's gross and shameful.

Sensationalist reporting distorts reality. The scoreboard for a year right now on average is : Sharks ~ 8; humans 73 million. Yes, that's right - 73 million every year. Why don't you share us in on the shark fin industry rather?

@zeph6439
@zeph6439 3 жыл бұрын
@@realMaverickBuckley For me it's all about having the right perspective on things. Like the fact that sharks don't ever wander about blindly on land and mindlessly slaughter people at the rate of 100 million a year? Nor would they if they could. They may test bite something that looks like a seal, floating on the waves in a black wetsuit and flippers - every now and again, or something splashing around in the surf that emits life energy that they become curious about. I mean they were designed to hunt marine animals, not people. People weren't designed to mindlessly kill either but something went majorly wrong somewhere along the line.

One minute the "Expert" says sharks have great eye sight, are smart not just mindless killers. That they don't hunt humans for food. Then he says they bite humans either by accident or investigatory. So which is it? I say they are smart and see people as food cause we are super easy to catch.

When sharks are desperate and starving, they will hunt no matter what it is. But sharks are extremely curious creatures and like how we use our hands to explore things, sharks use their teeth. That’s why a lot of people just come out with missing limbs and bite marks because the shark was investigating. If a shark was hunting, the victim wouldn’t be alive.
