The horizontal steel gives you a stronger unit so I'd leave it that way and put some angle trim on the corners to protect the tarp.

That's a possibility. I'll check it out ... thanks for the tip!

Yeah, I can see all them birds under the wagon tonight. Need to get a good ramp built. I have never had freedom rangers, don't know if they have the instinct to go home to roost. I know a Cornish cross won't.

I my experience they do go back and roost, but it takes some days of putting them back in. I did build my ramp as soon as I turned the camera off though 😁

I've been meaning to comment on the walk-in compressor issue. You could consider a phase converter, however, in your case, the more expeditious strategy is likely just to get a new compressor. The other comment, when/have you considered breeding your own pigs?

We did have an electrician out to give us about three different options for some sort of 3-phase to 1-phase convertor. The biggest issue in his mind was cost ... it was basically going to cost as much as a new compressor, and then there was the added issue of having another piece that could fail. I did just get a bid today for a new compressor and installation so we are getting close! As for the farrowing ... we have done it off and on in the past, but never successfully at scale in the winter months (which is a time we need to be farrowing). I had hoped to build a farrowing greenhouse last year, but other projects came up. It's still on the list though, but I don't want to get back into a breeding herd of sows until I have a system I'm confident in for the winter.

@@TheBeginningFarmer Totally agree, if you were running a big shop with lots of three-phase, it may be worth it, but it seems it would be the long-way round for a single device. Plus, like you said, you'd get the advantage of a new compressor! Very cool!

Looks good to have them out. How often do you move them? Did you have to put many back in yourself? Lastly, when you get the feeder can you do a video or show it in a video when you get it?

That's not a ramp, its a slippery slide... ha! I'm sure by now you have already put some cross boards on it so they can get some footing.
