I read the book already and this made me cry still. It just hits me that not only this was true, but these kids endured alot and I wonder how they are today. Have they moved on? What changes did they make of themselves? I want to meet the actual people already

It is true, adults like to pretend children are just happy fairy tale Princess and princesses. Completely forgetting that it are they, the fairy tale kids, are the ones who get turned into frogs, cursed, followed by hunters firsting for blood, abused by their (step)parents, locked away, etc. As a child, you got just as many problems as an adult, only difference is you have less options to get out of the situation than an adult
