A big place inside an even bigger place neighboring two even bigger places.
With its origins in the nomadic peoples of the steppes - as the National Anthem alludes to... the name is also pretty straightforward. The Turkic verb "qazy" means "to wonder" and the Persian suffix "-stan" means "the place of". And that's the shortest version of the older history: The place of the wonderers with Turkic and Iranian origins.
So let us do, as the national anthem suggest, take a look at Kazakhstan!

One historical correction, the Mongol Empire did not fall with the death of Genghis Khan. It was divided between his 4 sons, with his 3rd son inheriting the title of Great Khan, and the other 3 swearing allegiance to him. This system continued for another generation until the reign of the famous Kublai Khan, who conquered China (more specifically the Song dynasty) and established the Yuan dynasty. Marco Polo visited China during the reign of Kublai. It was Genghis's grandsons that split the empire into 4 distinct units during a succession dispute between the Ogedeids (the dynasty established by Genghis's 3rd son, Ogedei) and Toluids (the dynasty established by Genghis's 4th son, Tolui). Those 4 units would be the Yuan dynasty under Kublai Khan, the Chagatai Khanate (after the name of Genghis's 2nd son, Chagatai, who ruled much of Central Asia), the Golden Horde or the Ulus of Jochi (named after Jochi, Genghis's oldest son) and the Ilkhanate, who ruled the Middle East and Iran. Kublai eventually won in the Toluid Civil War against his brother Ariq Boke, the other khans swore loyalty to him, but by the time he died, the empire fractured into these 4 entities, at times considering the Yuan emperor as their suzerain.

Why are you using the post transition name of Turkey? If we follow that do we change each country name to their native pronunciation while speaking English?

For the same reason why I write "Romania" and not "Roumania", "DR Congo" and not "Zaire", "the Netherlands" and not "Holland" and so on. They asked to be called Türkiye then Türkiye it is. Besides, it rolls out the tongue better in a conversation about Turkic countries /shrug

@@FreedomAlternative It would be great if you guys add up in description the songs you use in your videos. Some of them are really, really great, such as the one at 11:30 but also the one near the end. Cool video.
