The cheap, dust free bedding we use for our sheep barn! In a confined sheep barn it is important to give good bedding. We give our sheep the best bedding using sawdust. Sawdust straight from the mill is dust free, absorbent, and best of all cheap! Those are the top three reasons we choose sawdust over other bedding options to keep our sheep healthy, comfortable, and in a clean environment free of dust! See for yourself in todays video!

Highly recommend saw dust from the mill, but not sawdust from kiln dried wood. It will be super dusty and create respiratory issues

Have you considered using ag gypsum (power plant emissions control by-product) rather than sawdust? The gypsum "traps" the ammonia (nitrogen) in the urine. Reduces odor & bonds the nitrogen into a form that doesn't volatize. Another benefit is that since it ISN'T a biological product like sawdust then pathogens don't colonize it easily. Another benefit is the trace amounts of sulphur in the gypsum. Pasture legume growth is helping by that sulphur. One possible concern is to compare the magnesium content in the gypsum versus Mg in your pastures. I seem to recall Ozark soils are usually dolomitic limestone so check that out. New sub

Where would I find ag gypsum? We don't have any power plants near us that I know of. That is great information! I'm interested to learn more about it now! Thanks for the sub and hope you enjoy the channel too!

Just out of curiosity, I know you spread it on your hay fields. Have you thought of a manure / compost she'd to store the manure until you have enough to spread an entire field at onec just curious. Have a good one. Love the video. Keep it up. Essayons, clear the way!

Unfortunately we don't have anywhere to store it and we've looked at it but the cost just isn't something we're going to endure without knowing it makes a difference. And even then we need to know how big of a difference it makes if it would justify the cost. Glad you enjoyed the video I think you'll really enjoy the next one too! Thanks for watching and thanks for the question. Essayons, Let us try!

I would love to be able to spread it all in one day on one field though instead of going out every other week to spread a little bit.

Do you castrat your ram 🐏 that are headed for the meat 🍖 market?
@FreedomFarmsMo
@FreedomFarmsMo Жыл бұрын
None of ours are castrated, when you castrate lambs you are cutting out a large portion of customers. Many religions will not allow the consumption of rams that are not intact.
