He is from a time when Britain made the best things in the world - motorbikes, cutlery, pottery, cloth, clothes, machinery like singer sewing machines, beautiful buildings with parks and gardens, railway lines. And best quality goods, not the terrible quality made in China today. A lot of those things are still in use in Africa and India today. That world started to die in the 1970’s but older people abroad still imagine it as it was in its heyday.

Actually, the Great in Great Britain applies to its size not to how wonderful it is (although it certainly is!). This may seem strange, considering 36 how small our island home is, but it is big/large/Grand Bretagne compare with Brittany, the small area in France which was settled by the British Celts when The Anglo-Saxons moved in after the fall of the Roman Empire.
@Longhauler8521 күн бұрын
You're always welcome here. But you are right. After watching American vs British culture videos, it's been said many times that Americans are taught early on that it's okay to fail. You don't learn without failing. No risk, no reward. The immigrants who came to this country, a lot of them came not knowing anything about what they were coming to. There were no videos or pictures, only drawings, lol. But it was the survival of the fittest. That's what gave us that entrepreneurial spirit. Unfortunately, it seems like with British culture, you get looked down upon for becoming successful. You're born into whatever class you're born into. And there really is no way out.

Thats very true when you think about it…people sent ships of people from England to Australia and America to resettle (and I’m not talking prison hulks). Britain has given more to the world then people tend to think. I love a South African accent ❤ Globally speaking though we all come anthropologically from Africa. It’s so interesting if you look into it. We became curious and wanted to explore new lands, then the ice age came and we went back to Africa for warmth. Then after, we wanted to explore again and then the earth’s crusts moved and now were separate countries.

England, whether you like it or not, set the course for Britain to be great. Is the British Capital in Edinburgh, Cardiff or Dublin? Aren't we united anyway, with all of our European Germanic Romance and Celtic cousins to overcome this extreme left-wing threat? Why queer the pitch just now of all times? We are all in this together. We must defeat socialism. We should have joined our brothers in Germany back in the day, but chose a half-foreign madman instead. The tragic story repeats itself because of 'British', emancipated and myopic choices.

Nowadays it's Africans/Afghans/Syrians etc same MO though just different colour skins. Wonder what the next wave will be like and where from?

It is a bit sad that post-war Britain has been steadily flushing itself down the toilet over recent decades, mainly due to the somewhat spineless, risk averse, low calibre politicians we have, who are still today dragging the country down with their poor stewardship of the nation. We are now so very far removed from the can-do-anything mindset of our Victorian ancestors. Elon Musk has the Victorian spirit and drive to innovate and progress on a big scale.

One of the problems with Britain is that we are a very old culture thats very rotten to its core, we generally dont have family values we are spolied with consumerism, very much a slave to the credit system. The vast majority of us are numb when it comes to knowing what is right and wrong and lack the willingness to do anything about the corrupt system that feeds us entertainment and luxuries to keep us distracted.
