Like the term “racist” before it, it has sort of lost all meaning after people are accused of it for everything. But there are some valid critiques. Not dating someone because you’re attracted to a different sex is not phobic. You cannot control what you are attracted to. Denying someone the same legal benefits and privileges as you because their relationship is different than yours is phobic. These aren’t small benefits either, they are massive economic benefits, medical benefits, the right to make decisions on behalf of a partner who is incapacitated, power of attorney etc. There just isn’t any good reason to single out a specific group of people who are not allowed to have these legal rights, other than a disdain/hatred for them. Which why I think it’s silly that Seamus is trying to provide logic to back up a belief he has that mostly derives from a place of faith and religion. I would disagree with him still, but I would respect him more if he was more forthcoming and just said “Yes I don’t believe these people deserve the same rights as me, I don’t like them and I find them objectionable”. At that point he would be speaking from the heart rather than try to muddy the truth with clumsily cobbled arguments.

It isn't a legal matter for most Christians, Catholic or otherwise. I'm sure that if we put aside partnership rights as a separate legal thing from marriage, almost no one would have had any issues with that at all. Most Christians don't like that the state is involved in marriage to begin with. Note, I'm saying this is a bi guy. If I thought Seamus actually saw people like me as lesser, I'd be pretty upset. I think he sees the actions as detestable, and he probably sees gay marriage as a stain on something that should, in his eyes, be holy, but I don't think he sees the people themselves as lesser. As a gay married man, I would do everything I could to encourage people to raise traditional families, and support strong family values. Gay marriage should definitely be the exception, and not the rule. It's one thing to be tolerant and accepting, and another entirely to actively encourage something. I am totally monogamous and happy in my marriage, and very grateful for the marital benefits - including my husband being able to visit me frequently in the hospital when I was getting major surgery, and the ability to file taxes jointly - but I still think traditional marriage between a man and a woman is the bedrock of a healthy society, and is what should be encouraged and socially reinforced. It's one thing to accept something, and something else entirely to encourage it. I am conservative in most ways, so I realize I am kind of an exception already. All I know is that I very much appreciate the ability to be married, but also appreciate the problems with gay marriage being encouraged.

Applejack: Even though we have enough food and supplies to live a comfortable life, we'd rather continue to live in comfort than accept a new life in and have to live a less-comfortable lifestyle. Rainbow Dash: All I care about is my own success, opportunities, and career. Pinkie: I'm different and actually have health concerns that could put my life in danger! Fluttershy/Twilight: I'm too focused on myself to care for a child. Rarity: Birth Control failure. Pinkie is the only one with a full-on legit reason. Fluttershy is letting her fear dominate her and, arguably, is saying the exact same thing as Twilight in a nicer manner. Rarity at least is confirmed to have used birth control. I don't think it'd make sense for them either, nor can I see a reason why they would be in that situation outside of freak accidents. Applejack and Pinkie Pie come from traditional families and would likely have been taught against being super sexually active and both are likely to have prepared if they did have kids (Applejack lives on a massive farm and could set aside food for a new child and Pinkie Pie plans for just about EVERYTHING party related, she likely has resources enough for it). Rarity's enough of a romantic that she'd likely save herself for her eventual fairytale romantic partner. That and such an affair that would lead to an unwanted child would be a huge scandal that she'd want to avoid risking. Twilight's too introverted to consider recreational sex and would likely have scared herself out of abortion after looking into it (and writing a huge research paper on the subject showing the repercussions of it). Fluttershy has likely helped animals with giving birth and would be likely to have strong convictions against abortion as a result of interacting with the animals' children. Plus, too meek to go with recreational sex (and enough of a backbone after character development to scare off potential rapists, if those even exist in Equestria) Rainbow Dash would be unlikely at best to consider literally screwing around instead of training or being there for her friends, and would be willing to put her career and ambitions aside for her child, as she has before regarding her friends and her personal morals (Element of *Loyalty* here, people).

What if you woke up one day to find out that a morally founded opinion you hold that was so common it was never even a conversation topic got redefined into a hate crime so severe that it could ruin your career? What if the supposed victims of said hate crime got an entire month long celebration backed up by constant news coverage and commercial support? What if most new shows you watch on tv nowadays suddenly decide that they need to feature one of these victims as a major character, and have them contrived to be as likable as the writers can possibly make them? And what if teenagers suddenly became so eager to be accepted by their friends who belong to this victim group that they feel compelled to identity themselves as part of that group to fit in better with their friends? I understand that individual cases still warrant discretion. Abuse is still abuse, and bullying is still bullying. But it's for that exact reason I say that if lgbt people were categorically considered victims before, they sure as heck aren't anymore. I've literally sat in the home of a gay member of my church twice my age, listening to him break out into tears sobbing as he described the way his so called "friends and allies" harassed, belittled, and yes, even threatened him when he independently decided he wanted to start going to church again. It's the only time I've ever personally experienced an lgbt individual being harassed, and I had a trans co-worker and have a gay extended family member. The reality is that lgbt crowd is quite literally celebrated nowadays, and it's members and supporters are every bit as capable of harassing and demeaning others they disagree with as their detractors are. To suggest otherwise just isn't very honest.

RD would have a powerful support network and whoever her husband is would probably become a SAHD as Wonderbolts pay really well. I'm curious what possible underlying health condition Pinkie could possibly have. With her activity level, she probably doesn't even have diabetes despite how much sugar she ingests. I remember years ago my cousin tried arguing that marriage has evidence of being practiced long before religion was doing it. When asking him questions about it it turns out he confused marriage for weddings. Weddings used to not be such a formal celebration. It was adopted later but Christians and jews and other religions have marriage at the beginning of ever.

By all definitions, marriage did exist before Abrahamic religions. This is easily googled. Legally and socially recognized unions, which is what a marriage is. Sure every religion has its own take on a spiritual element added to a marriage but that depends on which religion you follow. For example, a follower of Islam does not believe in the Christian idea that a marriage is exclusively between 2 people and joins them as “one flesh”. Ancient Mesopotamia, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, all of these had marriage before the Abrahamic religions were popularized, and yes they even had same sex marriages. Each society has the capacity to decide what they recognize as a marriage, and it does not always align with someone’s faith. For example, many religions allow wedding a child, but here in the United States, we believe that’s not a valid marriage, despite it being blessed by Abrahamic religions, and this is because the United States does not use church doctrine as its laws.

I need to show off my inner Brony for a minute, cuz that MLP Meme pissed me the hell off. The show had a minor character named Derpy who the fandom turned into a Single Mother. Sometimes she had a child from a one night stand, sometimes the father left early in the childs (Dinky btw) life, 1 story I read had the father be soldier who was killed when Derpy was about to give birth. But that child made Derpy so happy, the fact some person wanted to justify getting an abortion using these great characters... absolutely shameful, thats what this is.
