So, mechanics buy their own tools. I have over 20k dollars in tool and a friend of mine is a heavy duty diesel mechanic and has over 80k dollars in tools. A cop possibly won't buy more than 2k in equipment and that includes gun, body armor, cloths, boots, everything. A gun can last for a life time. Tools wear out. have to be replaced. Some dionostic tools cost 5000.00 dollars easily.
@freefieldtraining6 жыл бұрын
I think you grossly underestimate the costs of the things you are talking about and their lifespans. My pants for work are $90/per. My vest was $1100. Gun with holster $1000. Rifle was $3600. That's not even close to all of it, and none of these things lasts a career. Just like your tools mine don't last forever. I get about 5 years from a duty handgun. That's 5 duty guns in a career, each needs at least six mags.... You get the idea.
@johnd43486 жыл бұрын
Your over spending . Try LA Police Gear. Good quality, very reasonable. My pants only cost 20 dollars. Boots 59$. And really 5 years for a gun. I shoot over a 1000 rounds a month out of my CZ75 and it's still going strong. I have over 30000 rounds thru it. I have a really cheap Siq 22 with over 20k rounds. No malfunctions yet. A Glock only cost around 600 dollars. Should last 10000 rounds easly. A quality rifle should not be over 1500 dollars. Some AR's are in the 800 dollar range. Its not going to be shoot that much to wear out. To each his own.
@freefieldtraining6 жыл бұрын
I have to use what is uniform and set by policy. So, I don't get to use knock off's for uniform gear. My gun has a light on it and requires a holster, both add a few hundred dollars to cost. Then they wear out because using something at the range is not the same as training with it...at all. The rifle has an optic, light, and sling on it... So it costs more, lots more. This is my profession. I'm not going to use junk to save money just like you are not going to buy your sockets from harbor freight.
@mghegotagun4 жыл бұрын

I agree regarding the slug. I also know we hardly hear about 44 caliber being used as sort. Just wondering diameter wise of 44 caliber and slug, by any chance it might make it though. I know for a fact it'll leave a huge painful 😖 contusion. Slug probably several broken rib.
@freefieldtraining8 жыл бұрын
+Mannix ja Well a 44 is about 240-305 grain and .44 inches in diameter at +/- 1350fps. The slug we used it .72 inches in diameter weighs 430 some odd grains and was rated at I think 1325 fps. Either way the vest was already independently tested against 240 gr soft point to get the NIJ rating. I wanted to try something fun and new. Plus, 44 mag is god awful expensive to buy in Chicago.

Hello hope all is well.. . I live in Baltimore, Maryland. And as you know things have changed drastically. My wife ordered me a set if AR 500 multi curve shooters cut level three plus steal plates. I had no clue about trauma plates. And the lacking of coverage. I was thinking on purchasing a level three vest. To get more all around protection. And a little more padding. My question is do I need a trauma pad? Or am I fine with that type of set up? My next question is what company would be the lightest. But still give me the protection in need and want? Thank you for your service. My mom is a retired police officer. So I know what you go through day to day! Thank you for your time and effort. I Thank the Lord for your tatoriols on UTube! +firefighternnmfd youare preaching to the choir there brother. EMS is being called more and more into the "warm" zone. They should all have body armor available. Safe life defense malesbexternal carriers for their armor too that would work great for your purpose. They come in blacl, red, and blue with reflective striping and a variety of police security and EMS markings. safelifedefense.com/product/first-response-carrier/

Where's the hole from the rifle round in the sheets of yellow?armor?
@freefieldtraining7 жыл бұрын
+Nate Hensley It was hard to see even in person. That rifle round is pointed and only 0.3" in diameter. It just works right through the layers of Kevlar fabric. I wish I had thought to zoom really close and show it.
