hues and values look a lot different weather you have white or a background painted too. Sometimes its good to get rid of the largest part of the white... No specific rules in art really. That's why i have learned from many others around the scene.. I've taken bits and pieces from everyone.. Thanks for the content .. Cant wait for the "Car" hint hint.. LOL have a great weekend Mark

well said! The car/reflections tutorial is in the works. One different painting before it that i want to get up, but it'll be out in April for sure.

I've found the same thing. Colours are very relative.

I resisted using shields for 30 years and only started appreciating them in the last year and probably due mostly to your videos. I still prefer painting freehand but I’ve learned to use shields in a way that my work doesn’t look too “airbrushy.” It took me awhile to realize it but shields can be quite useful. 😁

I agree with you on that. Well said.

Id imagine doing it for so long free hand can only benefit you. Its harder to learn that way but results for the artist knowing both ways is only beneficial to your clients :) and you.

Hey brother Mark how are you brother. Where is the tutorial with the hat and the hair? I’ve been looking for the old lady but I haven’t seen the hair scratching and the hat airbrush tutorial!!!🎣🎣🎣

Would love to hear what brand frisket you are using. I currently use shelf liner from Walmart. If it is a bit to tacky I just stick it to my shirt a few times. It cheap and honestly have never had a problem yet.
@theartworkshop Жыл бұрын
I usually use artool matte or Grafix matte but any frisket is fine. Nothing wrong with shelf liner if it cuts easily and doesn't lift up the paint. I do the same thing with tacky frisket film!

Hello, thanks for all your videos. I have learned better than anywhere. Thanks for everything. My only question is, if I leave the skin color very dark, how do I lighten it, since I put a lot of sepia on it?
@theartworkshop Жыл бұрын
Happy to hear it! If it's too dark you can use a lighter opaque color (mixed with white) to lighten in up.

I appreciate your videos so much I've learnt so much!! How do I avoid spidering? You can get so close with out any spidering? Thanks
@theartworkshop Жыл бұрын
thanks! lower your psi and don't reduce your paint too much. thin paint will spider out, especially if you have a high airspeed. 20 psi is a good starting point, but you may need to drop it to 12-15 if you're using very thin paint.
@JayJay-vr1rh Жыл бұрын
@The Art Workshop thanks for your reply... I thin to a milk like fluid and use a iwata custom micron with the power jet Pro but just seems the closer I go for finer detail it spiders. Can be very frustrating for sure.

I saw some spidering on that left nostril. Probably left that bit in on purpose to make us feel better and to show us that it even happens to the best of them! Thanks for another great video!

@@RyanJobbagyFineArt haha! great eye. It happens for sure. I think i had too much distilled water in it at that point so had to adjust!

Do you have any suggestions if you’re painting a surface you can’t use an eraser on like a shirt?
@theartworkshop Жыл бұрын
Use lighter opaque colors for your highlights. Paint them with your airbrush rather than erasing them out.

Hey brother Mark brother you are so so correct brother. For me personally the Gesso. Is truly the best way to go for me. I’m learning that the Texture in the Iris. 99.5 percent you will never see it. All the beautiful designs or textures in the Iris. If you understand where I’m coming from. You will mostly see a dark brown, light brown, blue, green. But never all those beautiful textures, but I’m learning them so that I will know how to Airbrush them. I believe you will see those in a big big big big mirror airbrush photo I’m I right. I haven’t seen a completely detail Iris. But I’m having so so much fun learning how to do a completely detailed Iris. Practice practice practice I’m getting better and better. Now I can see all the beautiful texture in my Iris that I airbrush. I got the CONCEPT now!!!🎣🎣🎣
@michaelthompson1185 Жыл бұрын
Okay like I was saying all the irises that I have seen. They have detail, texture but the Irises. They are not dressed fully if you understand what I’m saying. I am detailing my irises, completely full texture. but I know once I get started airbrushing it will not call for all that right. But it is absolutely worth learning full detailed texture in a iris. Sorry I’m going on and on but I want to make sure you understand me.!!!🎣🎣🎣

I couldn't have said it better myself, Michael. There is an entire world in an iris. It's incredible how much detail and patterns are there that so few of us ever notice. Thats the thing about art ( drawing, painting, airbrush, whatever), you see things that you never noticed before. It can get overwhelming, right?! You start to see everything in life differently too. So much stuff that is all around, all the time never before noticed. I'm happy to hear your enjoying painting. I'm the same as you though, I'm always surprised to learn something new with each painting. It never gets old.

Hey brother Mark how will you know when you have. Too much or not enough distilled water. In your facial portrait colors that you have mix. How can you tell when you have enough distilled water. By the way my eyes are improving tremendously brother. The Gesso is AWESOME I LOVE IT. The old lady is Ridiculous I love you brother. In GOD’S spirit , I’m still airbrushing Irises yes. I have my lips and teeth kit, skin texture kit. Hair kit , burning Letters kit. I’m just not in a rush, I’m enjoying one kit at a time. No RUSH brother!!!🎣🎣🎣
@theartworkshop Жыл бұрын
Hey Michael! Really happy to hear it my friend, and you'll just get better and better with each painting. No rush is right!! never. So my rule is generally about10-20% distilled water to paint. If I make a mixture with 25 drops of paint, I'll add about 4 or 5 drops of water. Even with a micron, I'm not a fan of over reduced paint. It's too hard to control for me. With createx illustration colors, it actually works very well right out of the bottle with every airbrush. Sometimes it looks a kind of grainy when its that thick, so a small amount of distilled water helps it spray smoother.
