Also industry banned only bans heavy industry like steel and explosives, however to eco up and lift pops out of poverty, forestry and mining are necessary. Other consumer industries can also still be built.

The reason you lost against the vassal revolt is East India Company always has major recruitment issues refilling their starting regiments' manpower. First of all, there are limited pops qualified to be officers because most are illerate and discriminated, and secondly, many of the starting regiments are tagged English culture, which is an extemely small minority for recruiting. As EIC, you need to recruit new regular or constript regiments ASAP in states with "encourage social mobility" to allow qualfied Indian culture group pops to backfill dead officer positions.

You can immediately free India if Britain fails to defend you. You can first play as any country and join the war with Britain against Great Qing. You can then declare war in the EIC and Britain can’t join against you because you are with them against Great Qing. When Britain fails to defend EIC, it will immediately be released.

To increase autonomy the easiest way is to reduce relations by damaging them and asking stuff of them like knowledge sharing and support regime for a flat 10 every time they refuse. Also try to get rid of pro british interest groups and improve anti-british interest groups.
