I would most likely use a 9 inch Ford differential. It sounds like you may be drag racing the Chevelle. The 9 inch I would use is a Moser. They raise the upper mount on the rear end so the IC point is better for straight line competition.

Global West Suspension the Ford 9 inch is one of the best you can use ,strong as hell. What makes it so good is the hyoid distance

Without articulation something will be stressed out. A polyurethane bushing does not want tilt but when the car tilts or the axle articulates something has to tilt. It will either force the bushing to tilt, break the mount, break the bolt or oval out the holes. Thank you for recognizing this.

THINK!! The GM arms are not boxed because they are supposed to twist. And the OEM style bushes are bonded to the outside and inside sleeves and so have a good deal of flex, The heim jointed parts are excellent for a race track,, ideally with rubber the other end to reduce bind. I have seen all sorts of crap that damages the car. Crack pick up points, crack diff brackets or at least elongate the hole. And even then those plastic bushings increase the side to side movement. As they are NOT bonded to the inner or outer sleeve

The arm will just flop to one side, like a tie rod assembly. With poly at one end, it's always straight.

Don't understand why you wouldn't use a sway bar in an autocross situation..? That seems counter intuitive to the standard beliefs.
