Back in the day, before Eve Online I played on Modded Freelancer Servers. There were several really goods ones. They had dozens of custom ships and hundreds of new worlds to explore. We had clans/guilds and fought many epic battles. It was a lot of fun.

Civ 3? Try Civ 2 with the sprite graphics, winky 'animations' and generic sounds. So much fun. Especially when you cover the world in railways (although, Civ 3 kind of has that, too...)

This is the kind of game that every new and old player are missing, awesome story, incredible cast and a fantastic and inmersive gameplay. Why can't new games be like this? I hope some studio would get this, re-make it, just a fresh up to bring it to modern standards, no need of fancy huge textures and animations, RTX nothing of that. Just make it so it takes advantage of new hardware somehow, and to be sure is compatble with it. Another game I would lokve to replay is Fable.

The nostalgia hits hard with this one. I remember finding Freelancer in a bargain bin for $5 at Office Max back in '06. I loved it so much I bought 3 more copies to play the Discovery mod with my siblings. Last I looked through all my old computer stuff, I still had a copy. Might have to give it a try again, I'm still waiting for a worth successor.

Anyone who says Everspace is the next Freelancer or that it will fill that void hasn't played Freelancer or doesn't really remember it because they are not even close to the same game. The only thing they have in common, flying ships in space. Freelancer did a lot of things right to make it a fun and enjoyable game that all these other games that have come since then just do not do or get right. And for those that don't know, Chris Roberts who made the Wing Commander Series, Freelancer, one game I'm forgetting the name of, and now Star Citizen & Squadron 42, when he was making Freelancer, he wanted it to be Star Citizen. That was his initial goal but the tech wasn't there and Microsoft stepped in and made him finish the game and he released it before he was able to make the game he thought he could make at the time. Maybe a precursor to his feature creep now with Star Citizen but either way, when Squadron 42 is released, we will finally have the Freelancer we've been waiting for.....Hopefully lol.

God I loved this game, and played it when it came out. I would agree that not having a true remake for it is simply a sin but I'm very happy to see that we have a wonderful group of committed gamers who refuse to let this game die. back in the day, when it came out, i played it so long and so hard, i used up like 3 or 4 dvd's back then, or was it cd's... cant remember anymore... And still there were rumors of freelancer 2, that never come, only yhat a german fan made darkstar one Even now, this game still hold out Hell we got a new version of it, with the name underspace, a freelancer base game with a lovecraft mod slapt to it And thanks to your video i can now get freelancer back and start playing the old one all over again ^^

@@Wonderboy1990 i have played the demo for some houre's and then i just got the main game... so far, its a freelancer slapt woth a lovecraft mod on it... hell even they used old names fron freelancer with a small twiths to it, only fans of freelancer will see them. even the starter mission is almost the same haha you will love it and no need to download mods to get it to work in HD xD

Few tips on freelancer: Bind a key to toggle flight assist. With it turned off you do not slow down, and keep your boost speed even when not boosting. I bound that key to MB4 Try and dock at the last possible moment. the slow approach to docking rings, gate and trade lanes are a pain in the S. An thus i bound that key to MB5 Also get weapons of matching projectile speed. Great combo is one weapon to strip shields and the rest to finish them off. You can group and switch weapons.

IIRC, shieldbusters tend to have slower projectile speeds than most other stuff. But, if you're mounting shieldbusters and hullbusters in different groups, the lead reticule will switch depending on the average speed of the weapon group you have selected. Meaning you can use slow speed weapons in 1 group, and fast speed weapons in another. In fact, you can do this even if you're not using separate shield/hullbuster groups, with slower weapons for when the enemy is closing and faster weapons when the dogfight breaks out.

Also was quite rare for the age of the game is able to target independent guns or even the wings themselves (I forgot if you could actually tractor those bits you’ve blown off even though you haven’t blown up the actual ship completely yet) I used to play this game very aggressively single player mode I must admit that final battle was a bit hairy but also trying to get that special ship in that radiation belt that literally blows up your ship if you stay in the radiation too long was interesting but hey combat was interesting because it didn’t just affect your ship It affected the enemy ships as well Also unlike most other games when you’re in supercruise mode you can still hit stuff as I noticed your ship was being peppered with rocks that were in those belts

I can still play this on my XPS 720 PC and on my W7 pc:). I run a mod of the game but it is still a blast to play. I gotta replace the RAM on my old XP machine but otherwise, it still works. Bring this up to current levels and graphics but pretty much leave it alone otherwise would be fantastic.
