the Transmission is the weak link plus you have to get a bigger coolant tank. that transmission isn't designed to handle that much power. it is why i haven't tuned my car. BUT if you tune it to the redsport or just a bit more it should be fine
@GettingthruLife4 жыл бұрын
These transmissions are holding 600-650 whp as tested. Beyond this is when folks are seeing they need transmission work. Well known now that these transmissions can hold 500 whp no probs.

I have to admit I enjoy watch your videos on the q50 tunes and mods. Question now that you have had some time with the q50 mods and tuning if I simply tuned my q50s without changing anything on my engine what kind of results can I expect from the 3.0t engine?
@GettingthruLife3 жыл бұрын
410-415 whp which is close to 475-80 hp at the crank. Pretty much everyone that tunes/turns up their boost on these car's needs a heat exchanger upgrade. The factory HX doesn't flow enough coolant to keep up the twin intercoolers. This new found power will be reduced pretty quickly as you have fun with the car. The word is that if you keep the boost within check 17.5-18.5 psi then the turbos should last 3-4 years but they will wear out eventually because of the rpms they spin and the heat they see. If the owner takes care of their car and is respectful then it can be reliable. If buying used then you have to consider how the 1st, 2nd owner treated the car before you got it. Blowoff valves will not make your turbos last longer as there is no evidence of this per Ecutek. Don't get BOV's with the anticipation that they will make more power or more reliability.

@@GettingthruLife Wow Thank you so much for the information I'm not all that mechanically inclined and this information and awareness I did not consider! I know I have to install s larger heat ex-changer but I did not consider the affecting areas.. which makes sense! Thanks again!

You said the key words your tuner is not the classic 3 or 4 in the infiniti community that everyone is going to who specialize in our small turbo's to accept the power it does make sense your tuner most likely better at tuning the big turbo's,big dog no holds barred type power!!!!

Is it over speed in the particular gear? Can you tune down for that gear?
@GettingthruLife4 жыл бұрын
The tuner can adjust boost per the wastegates per gear

Put a transmission cooler on there and an oil cooler

There would be benefits to those but more for endurance purposes.

Sorry for the huge delayed response. Comments were going to a "hold for approval" section. At that time of video I had a Burger Motorsports HX, Jotech tune Ecutek, AMS filter kit, R1 Concepts rotors and pads and Mishimoto OCC. Now I have added Magnaflow street performance CBE, Z1 motorsports subframe collars, Verde VFF01 Flow-formed wheels to get 10" wide in the rear plus 25 pounds per wheel and now NT555RII latest street caliber drag radial tires.

After you put your Megan down pipes did it make your idle alittle ruff , just a touch?

Sorry for the delayed response as I was not aware YT was sending comments to a section that required my approval. I don't have Megan Dp's. I still have all my 4 CAT's.

@@qdog1019 I am aware of the marginal benefits at this point but I'm concerned about removing the secondary CAT's. Can just lead to issues down the road where they are not quick or easy to swap out. Who knows...I may have a change of heart. I need to discuss with my tuner. Thanks for posting!

@@qdog1019 I recently updated my jb4 for my Q50 and I think I bricked my Jb4. I got stuck with no firmware even though the update looks like it finished and now my jb4 is stuck on “awaiting handshake” is there any way to reflash the jb4 myself without sending it in? Any help would be greatly appreciated 👌🏽

Could I just buy a heat exchanger and tune a 3.0t and what all do I need for a tune ?
@GettingthruLife3 жыл бұрын
Yes a aftermarket Heat Exchanger is pretty much at the minimum what needs to be done before a reputable ecu tune is added. Options: Frozen Boost- least expensive route but requires more FYI to mount up to the car, 2 size options available. Next is the Burger Motorsports HX - gears to job done and better than the factory equiped unit, a decent option. Next is the PLM Q50 HX- likely better than Frozen Boost and Burger because of size/mount location/overall design. Next is the Mishimoto- probably my favorite because middle price zone but has tested and developed just for this car. Mounts in factory location/is large/uses a good core/looks good. Lately is the AMS performance HX. The premium brand and premium price tag but works likely the best by a small margin/a few degrees but $800. Mishimoto and PLM just under $500. Burger HX $350 now and Frozen Boost likely $200-220. Another modification that I at least feel is/can be a benefit is A Cat back exhaust. The factory exhaust is tiny in a couple of places 1.50-1.75" and when tuned that is choking off getting the exhaust flow out the last 12 feet. Blowoff valves are a waste of money in my opinion unless you got to have sound they make so your happy. Lower exhaust cattless downpipes are not as big as an advantage as many think/want to believe but if wanting every single hp you can get where you have to money/install resource then there's that option. All you need minimum to gain 100+ hp and 130-140 tq for the non Red Sport version is a reputable tuner, there tune and one of the Heat Exchanger options mentioned above.

Sorry for the delayed response. Comments were being held for my approval to post where I was not aware of this. I have since changed tuner and gone with Racebox out of Houston Tx. Car is running better where I'm not running into TCM and PCM codes that mess with my mind.
