If you're power steering feels heavy, has a whine to it or you've not changed your power steering reservoir bottle for many-a-year, then take a watch of this video.
Inside the reservoir is a small meshy-bit that filters the fluid when it's returned back to the bottle. Over time this gets blocked up and puts pressure on other parts of the steering system.
To combat this, it's a fairly straightforward (if a bit messy) job of removing the fluid, flushing the system using the old reservoir and a new reservoir together and then bleeding the system. After you've done this, not only will you have a sparkly clean filter in the new bottle, but you'll also have brand new fluid flowing through the steering system.
