When we speak about the future of the universe, we mean when our sun burns out, when galaxies collide, when everything flies apart and ultimately evaporates. Do the untold billions and trillions of years from now make the far far future irrelevant for us today? No. The far far future of the universe conveys meaning now.

For a while, I thought Freeman Dyson was immortal...Then I quickly realized this is a registered episode as he passed away not a long time ago. This guy had such a tremendous clarity of thinking at his age that was startling!

Very interesting and worthwhile video. I met and chatted with Dyson about 25 years ago. He was brilliant, friendly, creative and a delight to converse with.

His final point is so important. When people consider these questions/concepts, it gives us an undeniable (and much needed) sense of humility.

A better understanding of far future of universe might help to understand how and from what our universe came about, as well as if any other earlier universes; and what might be beyond this universe.

If a type 2 civilization build a Dyson sphere around it's star, then maybe could observe if Dyson sphere blocks solar flares, storms, wind and coronal mass ejections from star? So try to observe what would be missing or weaker from star if a Dyson sphere around it from type 2 civilization.

We can't even imagine how far far away that far far away time is, how do we make predictions about what's in store for us in a far far away time based on science we know and don't know today 2021? Every one of us WILL NOT even be around to follow up on our questions of today... KZbin, gone! Facebook gone... Hell, Earth will be gone!

We are Time,our higher senses can sense if Time stopped,and squabbling of Time meridians and coordinates are given,to know stocked Time variants or brand new Time variants are within,but our being a world,as we consider others as aliens,limits to the existences of other worlds,for we are aliens if we are intruding on their own space vicinity,only those who pursue the control of Central Universe, will be feasible on all Time variations,and always the present time,only our higher senses can know how to be bounded to the Central Time of the Universe...

"God" is the point in far far future, spoken with Max Planck, where science and religion will meet, at their common goal. "God" means the point where life will have realized itself. For that we are something like "living building bricks" 😉

The solar system is too well arranged to be natural. Moreover, some suspect that it does not belong to this galaxy - it was either attracted or purposely joined. Dyson is telling us old ideas.
@xspotbox4400
@xspotbox4400 3 жыл бұрын
None of this idea is realistic. Why risk many lives and waste unimaginable resources to build anything large around an unpredictable star, all they need to know is how to manipulate hydrogen atoms, then build fusion reactors where needed. Civilizations don't measure in their sizes, knowledge is way more important. Advanced civilizations should be able to manipulate atoms, all kinds of light and electricity, so they can create all sorts of materials and devices. Plants are very fragile, they need stable living conditions and other various forms of life to grow, no way they could adapt to fast rotating objects like comets. Even if they could survive somehow, liquids and gasses would turn them into a solid block of ice very soon. Genetic engineering could prove to be a death trap, so far modifications can only produce cancer. I do agree biology is the most advanced technology we can observe on our planet, but doesn't come separated from living organisms, its primary functions are part of individual beings. Using biology as crafting material could cause terrible consequences, artificial cells might run out of control, attack all other life forms or even change the atmosphere of a planet. Long energy waves might not be too good for communication, aliens could use short bursts of gamma rays or neutrinos, those can travel straight through the planet, like it's nothing there. Smart alien civilizations will build bases on all stable and suitable planets and moons, but i doubt they would try to colonize entire worlds. It's way more likely they live in giant space stations, floating around nearby solar systems, so they can survive without any natural system. We might never enter space exploration age, human species is too primitive, most people can't control their animal instincts, all they want to do is enjoy the present moment and have kids. Science is too much for average brains, religions are still more powerful, and they're driving our world straight into oblivion. Very soon we will live in an overpopulated planet, fossil energy will be gone, natural resources will become scarce, factories will get closed and remaining population will turn into savage tribes, fighting each other for food and shelter day and night. Science will never emerge again, humans will become just another form of animals, the entire biosphere of a planet will slowly erode and die away, Earth will turn into just another space rock. There's another very real possibility, everything will be OK somehow, we will be able to see signs of advanced civilizations out there, but that will be about it. There might be physical limits to what is possible in sciences and technologies, cosmos might be completely unpredictable and full of strange unknowns we can never understand and find a way around them. Or space might be full of debris, making fast travel impossible. Or evolution is not what we thought and we will become dumber, go crazy, there's no telling how things might change for us in the future, one huge mistake can easily seal our faith forever.

Who needs science? It's all in the Book of Revelations. Jesus will return to earth and all the non-believers will die. All Jesus-believers will have eternal life. That's all anyone needs to know.

Jesus-believers are not so many, compared to hindis, buddhists, muslims, jews and the growing numbers of atheists. Why should they just die when your supernatural god suddenly comes back? A new Holocaust that kills 80% of all people?
