Thanks s is brilliant thank you. Given me ready answers for a lot of critics I have to work with. I have to say the most pleasant, the most helpful and always ready to help person in my workplace is known to me to be a FM. And it shows.

What if there are men of mixed faiths in a lodge? Wouldn't the fact that two or more books of contrary faiths being part of the furniture offend each member's faith by making each book equal?
@FromtheQuarries Жыл бұрын
Not at all - If one thing defines a good Freemason it is a sense of reason, perspective and mutual respect. I have sat in lodges with the Koran, Bhagavad Gita and the Torah either displayed alone, or along with the Bible and it has caused no concerns for anyone whatsoever. Faith is an individual choice, not defined by the Craft. The moral journey that each Mason takes is his alone and based upon his own beliefs. Volumes of Sacred Law are displayed to give each brother his own personal pillar around which to build his own moral architecture. Clearly this tolerance and mutual respect causes offence to some groups outside the lodge, but it certainly doesn't to anyone within the lodge.

That is a very good question. However, Freemasonry is not a religion. The individual members are not obligated to consider any other religious text to be equal to theirs. We are to be respectful of others. It is similar to two people working on a job together. They should be respectful of others for the sake of working towards the goal of their employment. Many people get thrown off because the external form of Freemasonry uses religious imagery and terms. Freemasonry has NO DEITY!

No tolerance or respect for people who decline the covid jabs though. Thousands of masons removed from their positions in lodge over it

As a nonbeliever, I find the religious overcast of freemasonry unwelcoming. If the fraternity were truly tolerant on matters of religion, it would not exclude those of us who have none. One does not need a god to be good.
@FromtheQuarries Жыл бұрын
I agree with your sentiments. You certainly do not need a god to be good, but is both a tradition and a Landmark of the Order that you must believe in a supreme being (whatever form that may take) before you can join the fraternity. Without this belief much of the moral content of the ritual is pretty meaningless.

God is just a concept and representation of The All and All, it’s actually perfectly in line with science and is not a deity, just a word

@@FromtheQuarries Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your channel; it is interesting and informative. Generally, I have a good opinion of freemasonry. Earlier generations of my family were deeply involved. I do wonder, with the steady decline of religious observance, what that implies for the future of the order.

The belief in a Supreme Being and the Immortality of the soul. Is the only requirement save the Swedish Rite you do not necessarily have to be "religius" per say to have such a belief. The book upon the altar, is called the Volume of Sacred Law say that slowly and with an echo in the background😅 anyways it's to be taken as the rule and guid to our lives. You don't need God to be good sure but define what that good is. The VSL is the standard on which you define what is good and what is not. Personally I fail to how In the beginning nothing then matter appeared from nothing and accidentally made everything but that's not important here The belief in the immortality of the soul is at the very least the acknowledgement that we are to work to improve ourselves for the future, the belief in a Supreme Being is at least the acknowledgement that like a building the builder must be wiser than what is built and that includes the universe, Just my very humble opinion
