I remember when my tonsils and adenoids were taken out...I was not put under any anasthesia or pain medication. I remember being in a straight jacket, being rolled into this creepy blue/grey room, and all of the shiny removal tools they've used to take them out. I was wide awake and freaking out. This happened when I was 8 in Russia (1996). Worst experience ever. But at least I got a gigantic tub of ice cream afterwards.

I got tonsillitis for years. So when I was 5 or 6,my tonsils was swollen so as usual,my father give me the medicine for my fever and my tonsils but my fever never gone away. I remember I got sick 3 or 4 times a months for 9 years. I was always sick even in school,I was force to go to school even when I was sick cause of my tonsils and didn't go the operation because of my father think it's not a bid deal. So 9 years, I've been taking giving a toll for my body and I was very slow in learning and communicate untill I was bring to the specialist ear doctor cause my ear hurts so bad for years and my father is getting tired. They didn't notice anything bed until they cheeked my tonsils when they found out I have to take them out. So I did- and after the operation,it's hard to eat but over time I can. I'm happy I did cause it's been 3 years and I feel health then before even though I somehow can get easily- but not as often!

Thank you I thought I was going nuts. Past year I kept repeatedly getting told that there was nothing wrong with me and it was all in my head my multiple doctors. I had my adenoids taken out as a child and apparently its become a problem again. it makes it impossible to breath when performing simple physical tasks or even to laugh making it feel like my lungs are drowning slowly and no matter how hard I coughed nothing came out except small traces of phlegm from time to time. To be fair I didn't tell the doctors about surgery because I was young and barely remembered what the surgery was for. I've told my new doctor and hopefully this is the cause for all this nonsense ill find out in a couple of days thanks to this video. Education and information is important. Thanks for the video, I feel like there is a direction now.

I've had soooo many bouts of tonsillitis over the past three years (mostly bacterial too) but the ent department at my local hospital will not agree to a tonsillectomy. (I will be 35 next year for reference.) Worse still, one tonsil always appears swollen, with debris in the tonsillar crypts and even superficial bleeding; while the other is virtually impossible to see at all. I have had a deep, bad feeling about it for a long time. . . A couple of months a go I had high grade precancerous cells removed from my cervix (i've lost nearly 2cm in depth of my cervix). 😔 This is the second time I have needed treatment for it. I have had a high risk hpv infection for many years and now I am concerned that this same virus may be altering my dodgy swollen tonsil and the surrounding area. I have a lump on the back wall (peritonsillar area?) just above the swollen tonsil. I have had it for quite some time but recently it has increased in size. I am pushing to have it all reassessed at ent again and i'm hoping for a Yes - to go ahead with the tonsillectomy. Does anyone have any advice for me? Any experience to share? I welcome it. 🙌 I have strong intuitive feelings when it comes to my body and I have always unfortunately "gotten it right" at least thus far. E.g. In 2013 I had a benign but troublesome nodule on my thyroid. I knew it was there long before it was ever scanned and eventually removed (hemithyroidectomy). Likewise I knew i had Endometriosis before I had my diagnostic surgery for that. ... I knew I had a problem with my Complement system etc. I guess what i'm trying to say is; I know my body well and I instinctively know when something is not right. I need to have my tonsils removed! I'm scared! 😭

The video says that tonsils relay messages to the immune system about incoming bacterial or viral matter, then the treatment says take antibiotics for tonsillitis, which assumes the infection has to be bacterial. If the infection was indeed viral, then you've not only miss-diagnosed the reason for inflammation but also destroyed the gut microbiome by taking the full course of antibiotics, thereby creating further inflammatory issues. Tonsils and the appendix also serve as a major immune instrument against cancer. The Lancet posted a article about the high percentages of onset of lymphoma following appendix removal in adults that had their tonsils previously removed in childhood. These are two organs that medicos liberally take out due to presentation of inflammation, while neglecting to find out what's actually causing the inflammation. Treat the cause, not the symptoms, this in essence, is the folly of medicine as a collective.
@heavypeki Жыл бұрын
You are wrong, chronic tonsillitis is serious life threatening issue, can easily lead to inflammation of joints and hart, giving you myocarditis if untreated. Frequent tonsil infections (especially bacterial) can even lead to antibiotic resistance meaning further problems. Several studies have shown that after tonsillectomy not only immune system is not damaged, it is even better and more efficient, since tonsils each time they get inflamed they are damaged, tissue is damaged further and further, and bacteria can stay deep inside them and you can't treat it properly since lymphatic tissue is being replaced with scar tissue basically. Tonsils at that point are like dirty old used sponges that are so dirty you cant clean them anymore and you have to throw it out, not to mention big crypts that constantly trap food that gets broken down and rots and is producing bacteria. Problems after tonsillectomy is that you are more susceptible to pneumonia since you don't have anymore that first line of defense, so you need to be careful very much and take care of drinking too cold too quickly or breathing very cold air through mouth. By getting tonsillectomy you are doing yourself a big favor really. It is pretty simple, if you have tonsils, and you tonsils are doing a good job and you don't get very sick very easily and so constantly, you absolutely have to leave them be it, they are good, and if you are getting sick pretty constantly, even after rounds of antibiotics and even by a simple common cold every 1-2 weeks and have problems, it's a sign that they are not doing their job, and they have to be removed.
@simonw3004 Жыл бұрын
@@heavypeki I rest my case: "if you are getting sick pretty constantly, even after rounds of antibiotics" - how did you come to the conclusion that the only cause of infection is bacterial? If you've administered multiple rounds of antibiotics and the infection keeps returning, clearly your diagnosis is incorrect or you're missing something. If you're focused solely on treating infection but not fortifying the immune system, you're a lost cause. Multiple rounds of antibiotics are harmful, even the lay person knows this wipes out all their normal commensal flora and promotes candida overgrowth. You would learn a lot by asking WHY does the infection reoccur, rather than applying antibiotics in every case, then surgically removing the inflamed organ, there's nothing smart about that approach.

I have a question to anyone who has had there tonsils removed. I’ve had swollen tonsil problems all my life I get the worst fevers, body aches, and it’s very aggravating the fact that it hurts everytime I swallow. I’ve thought about getting them removed. But then I think to my self if my tonsils catch all the bacteria and dirt, etc, going into my body. I would think it’s much easier for me to catch a fever, or a cold, whatever. I would honestly rather deal with the body aches and pain when I swallow or eat, than having a stuffy nose, cough and the many other symptoms that come with the cold or infections of other bacteria…. Pretty much I just want to know if it’s going to be worth it or not?
