Sports was me. I was grandmaster top 250 until my internet went out 5+ times in the last week in the beginning of games. I have to really apologize for the spamming of lauging emojis. I was upset that you tried card blocking me 2 times when blue was so strong. So the 2nd time you tried i decided after that you created an all out war. Sorry but i was laughing because you card blocked me 2 times so it was revenge for me to get 2nd. Also i play mobile so sometimes im slow.

I think you played great. A bit of good luck with the cards but good job switching the pressure onto me. Blue was useless so that's why he's an expert. I was hoping you'd start working with me and playing to win but I get super vengeful as well so I totally get it. GGs man! Hopefully if we face off again we'll be on the same side. Cheers

I'll be honest with you. I often play for second. The main reason being that I am not good enough at this game yet. Whenever I end up in a 1v1, I end up losing, except when my opponent does something incredibly dumb. When I realize that another player is better than me, I try my best to not anger them, which gives me second very often. The toughest game I've won was against 5 masters, and I still don't know how I pulled it off. I'm still stuck in expert because, like I said, I'm not good enough. This is also why I watch your videos Pete, I try to understand how to win dire situations, but I am never able to reproduce what I see. Maybe one day I'll reach Grandmaster, but I'm very doubtful this will happen

You definitely will. It's just a matter of practice. I also often play for second, but only when I'm sure I can't win buddy in this game was proud of it though which I find a bit strange

Often you have to play for second based on snowball. I often get in situations where a newbie gets early snowball and its a 3 person stalemate. The newbie just holds his lead getting 40ish a turn, while the 3rd person (orange in this case) constantly slams you. Great players like Pete, VPchicken, and kytled will often call out in their games who wants to play for 2nd. The key there is don't put yourself in a situation where it's in their best interest to end you to give you 3rd to easily end the game.

@@FreePete Thank you so much. Yeah, sometimes they do you dirty. Two days ago I had finally managed to work with orange and black to setup a deadliest trap on blue. Blue had SA and Australia, with only 35 and 20 stacks in SA. They were all generating more than me, as I was playing Africa, and had my entire stack in East Africa. If I moved my stack towards blue, he would 100% get what I was doing, and respond by absolutely destroying me, as I was around 300 troops behind, but my kill wasn't worth the effort. I tried desperatly to communicate with black by having him break west Africa so my stack could obliterate SA, putting me ahead of blue in generation, and allowing a deadliest trap by putting my stack in middle east. After 30 goddamn turns of spamming hearts, thumbs and attack requests that made no sense just to catch his attention, black understood what I meant, and blue didn't respond, thinking I'd sue black in retaliation. I took SA, started the deadliest trap with hearts and thumbs up from both orange and black, only for black to kill me 12 turns later, giving me 4th and giving him 3rd. He was probably bored and wanted to leave, but I was so proud of my play that I was shocked by this play. Even when you are good enough at this game, you can't control your opponents, but that's what makes this game (and all other strategy based games for that matter) interesting. It can be depressing at times tho. Thanks for making such high quality content. It really helps a lot, and there's nothing better to watch than one of your videos when doing the dishes.

I had a match where Yellow was slammed turn 1 by a neighbor cap from White, and ended up not only losing said cap to Black, but their own as well. Yellow hung on as White botted out, and together Yellow and I managed to survive the onslaught from the White bot as well as the original Green bot, relying on one another for support, and slammed Black enough to break his spirit. We cleaned up the board, and due to turn order and where our troop stacks ended up, I didn't have a line to victory. Rather than drag out the game from the 30 minutes it had been, I simply moved off cap and let him cap rush me, since while I 'may' have been able to scrounge a win if he misplayed or I pulled out some god-tier strategies, I did not want to invest the hour+ it would have required, and there was no guarantee I was good enough to pull it off. That said, had the situation been slightly different, I would have gone for the win...I actually did hit through him once to see how it compared, and he ended up with 1.5x more troops than I had after the fact, and this was in fixed so no progressive card comeback.

It's part of the psychological side of the game. At some point, being a Good Neighbour is detrimental to your chances of winning and you have to take your aggressor down with you. Which.. sucks, but it's better than just straight up losing.
@risk_live
@risk_live Ай бұрын
This is why you try to identify your neighbor early. If they’re bad, you’ll likely have to focus on cap stacking until trades get bigger. Sometimes you can try to insist they be a good neighbor or it may just be a full on war of attrition. Best to figure out which one you’re in quickly!

@PETE could you maybe do an episode in the future that focuses on the "if, then" mindset throughout the game? For example: If these are my cap options, then I take this cap because of..., If this guy sue's into me, then the correct play is xyz and the incorrect play is xyz, If its a 3 player stalemate, then these are my actionable options to win. I feel like sometimes you take actions that some of us dont fully understand and so we cannot learn the "why" from them like when you tried to set up the block on orange but blue either didnt understand or didnt want to help but then you still went into orange instead of trying to work with orange, clearly the better player, to block blue instead to progress the game. Thanks!

orange played vindictively imo, not for second, I say that because right before he was getting card blocked he grabbed territory to balance out with blue but when he saw the card block attempt all his focus there on was to make Pete lose, which also in a way not playing to win. Either way, as Pete puts it, that’s why he’s “master”

Actually my focus was to take out pete after he card blocked me 2 times. I broke blue once to make it more even. Then pete card blocked me so i had to break that.. Then broke blues next bonus and put a 99 down in blues bonus and pete continues to block me a second time. If you aren't going to help me 2 times in a row then you are against me. 1st time someone tries to card block me I give them leniency but 2nd time when you can clearing see blue doesn't know what they are doing is a no go lol

Im just baffled why Blue so easily teamed with Orange so early in the 3 player game, when they had the stability with you as you basically enabled their growth. Just seems weird to me tbh, they should have clearly seen that between you both Orange could be trapped in noob corner yet they decided to actually help Orange.

Very interesting game, it's similar to your previous game that you posted where ee exchanged. This is the second time where you presume that player who's leading in troops is better than the third player. You go out of your way to card block the third player although you're somewhat equal in strengths. You didn't have a good early game because purple sued into you (probably saw that blue is at to get him, and tried to migrate to another capital only to realize that there was no running away). Your second misfortune is on you. First you wanted to clean the pocket from the green bot, then you wanted to guard the green bot kill, which has eventually led you to do none of the above - you didn't clean the green bot and you didn't set a guard on him as he continued to ruin your Russia bonus. You had no right in thinking that you were strong enough to pull out the blockade on orange nor has the blue player ever hinted that he wants to card black him. You might say that you wanted to preempt orange for doing this to you, but again where have you seen such behavior from orange. You set uo the game for yourself really well, as you have initially planned it. You got strong Eastern Europe play, out of everyone's way and what you should have done is just taking cards and wait for signs from other players. It was orange and blue thst were nearest to each other and there was a war that was about to happen. And yet here's you coming from nowhere trying to block orange, hoping to get second place (who you later belittle for doing the exact same thing, mind you!). In the previous game you won because the pink player was better than orange, and the blue leading player was worse than the blue current player. Otherwise you should have gotten third like you did in this game. My point from all of this is that you occasionally (not sure if this is a recent thing) show lack of discipline and impatience although there wad absolutely no reason for such behavior, unless you were somewhere in a hurry in both situations? Usually you're the guy who is ready to wait for an eternity for the right move. Anyway GG's and thanks for the uploads!

to be honest, and not to blindly defend Pete, I disagree. When Pete started the card block, blue had like 100 more troops, if he let the card block and took NW Africa, he would generates more than Pete. Which means, once orange would be dead, he would have more. And even all of this won't change the fact that he let oranges sacrifies all his troops to kill Pete while doing nothing, he would have done the same letting Pete kill orange.
