Something similar I have talked about in class is the drinking culture in society and college. It's so normalized to drink every time we're in a social setting that you're considered a party pooper if you decline to drink. People shouldn't be shamed for not drinking or quitting alcohol.

Love that you feel comfortable enough with your audience to share your more serious struggles. I'm going through similar issues and like others what's worked for me is using my hangovers as motivation to not drink as much. They're extremely crippling and a sign that my body can't handle that much alch, I've learned how much I can drink to prevent a hangover and that's lead to healthier drinking habits.

Since the pandemic, I've definitely slowed down on drinking. I use to go out every weekend with friends and get way too drunk and suffer the hangover the next day. I knew that this cycle couldn't keep happening and I felt that the lockdown was sort of a blessing in disguise.

The talk at the end was really relatable. I feel the same way about using drinking as a way to unwind and I also became over reliant on my drunk self for social occasions. I just thought I'd tell you that you have way more than enough personality sober. I always love your vlogs and your way of articulating your thoughts 🥺💕 - Tash

I feel you so much, that has been happening to me during all of last year. Losing control and having the worst anxiety the next Day, being mean to myself thinking about all that could have happened to me while I wasnt a 100%. Its honestly shit, I am trying to learn how to find balance between the euforia that comes from going out and having a drink with friends trying to enjoy myself for all the days I feel I am missing out due to covid, and not losing myself and being smart about my choices and safety. Idk, just wanted to share, I think a los of us are going through the same! Thanks for being honest ♥️

A tip i have for balancing alcohol is bringing a pen/ eyeliner with you when you go out, and draw a mark on your hand when you finish a drink. Everytime you bring the cup up you’ll see how many drinks you went through already and although you don’t feel like you’re drunk yet, you’ll put down the alcohol and pick up a glass of water instead!!

Awww I love this video. Super relatable and I can tell you it's not easy to slow down when you're around good friends and having a good time but eventually you will find a happy medium. If they're good friends (which they should be 😉) try a detox challenge every few months. Health is wealth.

I felt so pressured to drink at my last job. My coworker went to 3 different liquor stores to pick up drinks for a work party and each time he would ask me what I wanted even though I said I don’t drink…it’s ridiculous. I have absolutely no shame in saying no. But a trick for me now is to just hold a drink in my hand so they stop asking or get a mocktail which is more common now.

love the lil talk segments in your videos. it's a nice touch to a standard vlog :) about the alcohol - maybe you can try getting mixed drinks (like coke & rum) instead of the heavy stuff so you can still socialise over alc but not get drunk? for what its worth, you seem like a fun and likeable person even while you're sober!! :P

Agree with what you said regarding relationship with alcohol. I was feeling the same way and beating myself up about getting a bit too lit and hungover the next day. I'm chilling on the drinking for 3 months and have 2 of my best friends on the journey with me and we keep each other accountable. We've been going to parties sober and people are shocked but they take it as cool and mature.(About 25% of drinkers Binge in NZ) we can still catch a vibe though! Anyway, hope it goes well for you Freesia, the vids are going off!

You’re def not alone and I recommend just bringing this up with the people you drink with. Chances are, you aren’t the only one in your friend group that feels this way and you can start catching each other slipping.

Finding something, like a new hobby, to do that you would hate to do hungover. That way while you’re drinking you have that boundary in the back of your mind. This is a method to define your own relationship with alcohol, rather than alcohol defining it’s relationship with you.

I watched Jenn Im's vlog before this and I feel the same way too. I was always the girl who gets super drunk and trips and falls over things, always taken cared of by my officemates. And honestly, I thought I liked myself drunk too, especially with the encouragement of my bosses. But I always feel regretful for two days after waking up. I was so ashamed of myself when they had to take me in via wheelchair the last week before the quarantine started. It took me this long to realize I don't need that much of a release if I've been keeping a healthy balanced life anyway.

Agreed with u on the alcohol. I'm early 30s n when I was in my 20s that's like all I did but now don't care for it. I still drink here n there but it's mostly social like u said but covid put a stop to us being social.

i experienced having a black out and yes left my bag out in the streets. it fell off while I puked outside my car. Then the next morning I realized I lost my bag and lucky me the taxi driver found it on the street. I have my credit card in my wallet and my camera as well. It was unfoegettable and also stupid of me to be super drunk. But that was one wild experience. I will never forgrt that. lol

I’ve never had one drink in my life; I’ve add summer jobs promoting alcohol in clubs and bars 🤷🏻‍♀️ and never had a drink then. Just not my thing. It’s my difference, I guess. I’m 47. I think it’s so cool to be “the one who doesn’t drink” in a crowd. 🙂 It really is not something we “have to do” in life. xoxo

Thanks for sharing! You should have a video just of rolling in bed all day! Lol I think we all tend to beat ourselves up and be our own worst critics when we make mistakes. It's good that you're aware and honest with yourself though. Maybe look at it next time from a different perspective, if it's something that could potentially really affect your way of living - consider the worst outcomes.. Make changes and be responsible. I don't like getting hung over so I'll have enough to still be able to function the next day, if and whenever I do drink. I think you got this! :)

Nice!...like your blog style...casual and relaxed. Already have seen few of your vlogs entries.....I don't know if that help but I wanted to give share a pice of advice. I used to have a bad relationship with alcohol too...and then I decided that I don't want to waste a whole day or even two days :/ on recovering from hangover. I think there is no other way than decide that alcohol is bad for you. But don't say you won't drink it ever again- don't foul yourself. I've started with 30 days- don't wait till first- just do it whenever....soo I said one month strictly no alcohol. First I set up as a challange...like you would decide you go for a diet for couple weeks- when you set up a specific period of time the challange is more bearable and you now there is a finish line. Sooo one month changed to 5 months....simply I didn't feel like drinking so I was keep going- there was no pressure. Annnd now start drinking again BUT I would drink one or two drinks and occasionally .... now prefer good and tasty wine or some damn good whisky... drinking to explore flavours rather than get drunk. Oh and the first two - three weeks are the hardest. you can do it!

I really don't enjoy drinking with co-workers. Before covid 19 I had to drink cause my boss drinks [in a society where collectivism dominates every social interaction this is common]. For now we don't all together cause of covid. I hope it stays that way......which 99.9% will not cause tradition in korea is more important than logic lol
