this intro is so well done, honestly, for something made so long ago, and fan made as opposed to anything AAA, I still find myself coming back to this. Honestly, Blue planet as a whole left such a massive impact on me when I played it. they really don't make em like they used to anymore.

The scenes have dozens of ships, most (if not all) with 2048x maps, thousands of weapon fire to match for collision detection, and more special things like deferred lighting and shadows then most modern video games, let alone other FSO mods. This is the engine getting pushed, because this is the cutting edge of what the engine can do. They even have to give you a different EXE, because the standard builds -can't- do it.

At the time of recording, 2 HD 6970s. The game can only use one, but it never truly uses even that, it's too CPU limited. Even the FSO trailer at 1080p and shadows only uses something like 40% of that card. Now, I have 2 HD 7950s, and playing WiH2 can get the usage all the way up to ~60% because I play at 3440x1920. 75-80% with shadows, if I remember correctly. This game is not GPU limited in any standard way, if the two are balanced. Even my old 5570 can get 60fps with MediaVPs 3.6.12.

disappointed that either there is voice acting for this chapter or that I have corrupted files. Can't get word on which is the case. I really like it so far, characters are a little bit whiny but whatever, still a good story.

could someone help please, my Blue Planet runs through Petrarch's speech and all the menu functions (campaign, barracks, etc.) work fine but when I try to play WiH 2 THE GAME STOPS WORKING What's the deal???

All that fighting is unnecessary. With those gorgeous graphics what if I wanted to explore outer space, trade and enjoy the beauty of heaven and all that jazz? Or would there be a way to stay out of conflict?

Well, FreeSpace is a mission-based space combat game, so that would be fairly difficult.

Markus Coleman The beauty about freespace is the space combat, it well done, and the fact that its not open source, fans can now remake their favorite space-genre shows like battlestar galactica. If you want exploration try the X-series or if you want to just see space in general look up space-engine.

No. FSO is single threaded. Coders are working on making it multi-threaded, but it won't be any time soon.

***** Are you using the provided build (EXE file) that comes with the mod? Not doing that is the usual problem aside from the computer not supporting the required OpenGL version. KyadCK Alright. I will try this out later. Maybe one day will I be able to experience the full awesomeness of War In Heaven. Though I'm able to play custom-made missions I made on my own using the debug build.

I have less problems on a 4.3Ghz i5 2500K. And it's no much as the engien pushing, but it has a lot to do with inefficient programming and modelling. which is to be expected by a community that's doing it for fun and doesn't get paid for it.

Like I said above, it's all in the specular lighting settings. Try this and crank it as necessary: -ambient_factor 35 -no_emissive_light -spec_exp 15 -spec_point 1.2 -spec_static 1.5 -spec_tube 1.5 -ogl_spec 20
