Hey Horse Lovers! This week I attended the Mid-Ohio Draft & Crossbred Sale! This auction was very well organized with OVER 700 HORSES. I was impressed by the auction house and how they called issues out in the ring, brought horses through, and how the facilities were well maintained. The catalog they handed out also listed specifics about each horse. These horses were in pretty good condition and some of them even went for BIG MONEY! In this video I will talk about what I am looking for in a potential auction horse purchase and also share some educational tips when it comes to browsing horse auctions. In the uk we call the colour of that clipped horse ‘liver chestnut’ or ‘liver dun’. Best way to identify them is when their mane, fur and tail are at least 95% the same colour. Do keep in mind there is a slight difference between winter and summer coats.x

Yeah. Liver chestnut is not my fave colour at all. I like the bright chestnuts with beautiful white mane and tail and markings 😍

It’s so nice seeing an auction we’re the horse are well cared for. I’ve seen to many of them were they’re in such sad shape that they can hardly walk or stand. This was fun. Thanks for taking us along. ♥️😊😁👍

OH my gosh, I would not be safe at an auction! I fell in love with at least eight of those horses 😂 I am a sucker for a pretty head and kind eye, and there were several that had a very curious "oh hey, who are you?" look about them.

They say you don’t ride colour, but it is impossible to deny that the more unusual colours attract more attention and $$. What a fantastic array of beautiful horses. Very cool accompaniments too - a chariot for goodness sake - lol.

Thanks for sharing, we love going to this sale. Its hard to relay how crazy the viewing area is, but so fun! Prices are up and color seems to add to the price as well as training level. Many of these horses have been in training by their owners specifically for this sale. For Amish locals it is a business opportunity and they do a good job of training for what people are looking for. Also, whoever told you to approach the auctions horses confidently, hasn't been to many auctions😆

I love it when you take us to the sales because these horses at the auctions are mostly healthy I watch horse rescue heros they're in Tennessee and the auction they go to is slaughter bound and the horses are pitiful so going with you and seeing all of these beautiful healthy horses is a treat thanks for taking us with you

Walking up to any strange animal, a person should be extremely careful. Those that dont realize this are the ones that tend to be snapped at, nipped, and scratched. It boggles the mind to think that people don't understand this. For those 'Oh but I love animals' that you might, but they don't know this, so always approach carefully. You love spotted horses and draft breeds. You would love a spotted Noriker (tigerschecke Noriker). It is a breed they used for mountain farming / foresting in the Alps in Austria where we live. They come in different colors, but the spotted ones are my favorite.

Grulla is a Dun.. Grulla/Grullo is just a black horse with the Dun modifier, but they are generally more greyish or mousy colored.. I think that horse has another added dilute modifier for like perhaps cream.

At those prices, it it more likely that buyers will treat their purchases with respect and dignity. Cheap prices often mean cheap owners and/or slaughter houses.

I think this is the right video….you were so so excited when you got the black. I told my husband that you get as excited as I do, and he agreed and said we are just alike. Goodness, I loved this video! So many beautiful horses. Your commentary is always amazing too. I've loved learning so much from you when it comes to auctions, and learning about the sorts of things to expect (from the good and the bad!). I am autistic and often get so anxious when I attend large, busy, events due to over stimulation. Oh my gosh, that’s horse wonderland for sure! So nice to see so many horses in good and even excellent conditions and with good training! For me as a German I so enjoyed this video! I have ridden English and Western - but definitely preferred western. You don’t see usually so many Western horses at one place. Exception of course big horse events. And my beloved Standardbreds! So many beautiful colors 🤩 You usually don’t see too many Roans here. But they are getting more as people really love to buy them. I love your videos a lot and I am very grateful for them!

The horse color is mouse , fawn brown. As far as having more confidence while approaching horses. How you approach them only makes safety sense. You have plenty of confidence, and I believe the horse senses that as you approach, but you use what is called common sense, something that many have never heard of let alone know that they could have some themselves. It is something that is not popular right now, but thank God you’ve got it and use it very well. Keep using it it suits you very well. So fun thanks! 😊

That clipped first horse was beautiful!that Blue roan was a looker for sure awesome! The 26000. Strawberry roan was definitely the top end horse, it must’ve been crazy to look at 700 some head of horses which has to make it hard for some horses to get a good price but if no sale you do have a big audience

A lot of fun seeing your videos, the auction and sale of carriages and wagons made me think of my grandmother’s family. I have a nice photo of grandma, with her parents and 5 siblings. Taken about 1908 in southeast Kansas. They were all in a 6 passenger buggy with a fringed top, 2 black horses. They were farmers and cattlemen. 🙋‍♂️🐈🐈
