Unlike in the real world (apparently) in the fishing world, size doesnt matter. Start off catching the smaller fish and work your way up. You will enjoy carp fishing so much more starting off in this way and by the time you get to target those big beasts of the deep you will know how to tie rigs, bait spots and all of the tactics needed to make it possible. To many make the mistake of wanting to go straight ahead into catching large fish and then think its hard or boring when they cant.
