We drove down to Austin to see 1917 in IMAX and it was worth every bit of the hassle and obnoxious drivers and parking insanity. Even my husband, whom I usually struggle to convince to go to our local (non chain) theater, thought it was worth it. Highly, highly recommend.

You're not wrong about that. There's a very deep well of great works in that genre coming out of those markets. So much so that it would make it next to impossible to decide on a "Top 20" list without causing a few riots over omissions to that list. Just one question, other than the countries/regions that you mentioned, who else is there that's regularly putting out horror movies worth mentioning?

If you watch on a browser, it is possible to run all the ads in advance, then rewind the time bar to the beginning so you can watch the movie without interruption. The ad markers are still present (unlike on YT) so they are easy to fast forward to. Not sure if this works the same on the app. This can be worth it for a better viewing experience while still supporting the ad service, just all in advance.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents on The Pledge - it is an absolute gut-punch of a movie if you focus on it and the details of what happens. The pivotal moment seems so ordinary-every-day yet it (IMO) is the complete essence of what this story is about: the moral choice, in one instant, of a hard-nosed but well-meaning career cop that utterly changes his life.

Thank you for the tip on "freevee" and the great list. A couple of points: I had not seen "Everly" so I added it to my list but then I noticed it was only rated 5.1 on imdb so I'll have to pass on that one. Glengarry Glen Ross is indeed a masterpiece, but I don't think it's Alec Baldwin's best performance. I think he nails it better in "Miami Blues".

The Genetic Opera" ....Some of the genres listed are science fiction and horror, it is that but also very much a rock opera - the soundtrack is pretty kickass IMO. "In the year 2056 - the not so distant future - an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men."

I know this is a movie channel, but since it highlights Freevee today, I must tell you of one of the funniests sitcoms I have seen in a long time, Corner Gas. Produced in Canada it has a Seinfeldesque feel to it. There is a live action show that lasted 6 seasons followed up by a 4 season animated show. Give it a try....oh and there is a decent Corner Gas movie too so that at least fits this theme.

You have to watch commercials/ads to use FreeVee and they are dropped into the content in what seems to be a haphazard manner, like in the middle of the dialog. Freevee is like other free streaming services such as regular KZbin, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, and Tubi in that not only are there ads but the content may or may not be edited, run time shortened, censored, etc. The major benefit for us with Netflix, Prime, HBOMAX and the HULU upgrade is being able to watch unmodified content and to NOT HAVE TO watch incrediblely stupid time-wasting commercials we have no interest in.
