Part 1: • Freeway Ricky: You Got...
--------
In this clip, Freeway Ricky addressed the difference in state and federal RICO cases, and he spoke about the dynamics of federal cases. Vlad then brought up artists wanting to still be in the streets after getting successful in the music industry. Freeway Ricky then revealed that he’s working on a label, but he wants to steer clear of any kind of gangster activity. This led to Vlad speaking about the longstanding beef betweenYFN and YSL crews, and lyrics being tied to an incident related to YFN Lucci’s mom being injured. Vlad then pointed out that if Young Thug pleaded guilty, YFN Lucci’s mom could in turn sue 300 Ent. over Young Thug’s lyrics about the incident. Vlad added that this could lead to a domino effect in the industry, and he stated that hip-hop needs to grow up after 50 years. This led to Vlad and Freeway Ricky laughing about 50-year-old gangbangers, and Ricky added that those guys have a lot of power that they don’t know how to use in a positive way.

Killingsley They do not have to rap about crimes that is what they are choosing to rap about because that is what they grew up around living in ghettos, hoods, projects, poverty stricken neighborhoods & also these hardcore hip hop artists, trap rappers & drill rappers have that street mindset. Nas, Jay-Z (now he does) , Ye (Kanye West), Drake, J. Cole they get people's attention with their music without rapping about crimes that they once did.

Does Freeway see the irony in a drug dealer telling rappers what they shouldn't be doing? After years in prison, and supposedly changing your life, you get right back in the drug business, selling marijuana. Hypocrite. Concentrate on your crimes against society that are still affecting families in LA. You haven't helped anyone, wannabe author. You've been tap-dancing for the "Man" ever since you received that marijuana license. Blame the fans, for buying the music you say artists shouldn't be making. Your respect died with your drug career. You tried to latch on to these rappers when you first got out, but found out quickly that respect didn't come with handouts. We don't need you publicly speaking "to" or "for" Black people. Selling all that dope and couldn't read the very legal papers that got you all that time. And you're giving advice.

A huge part of this conversation is being left out, and that is that received labels encourage lyrics that are disparaging and harming our culture, because that is what sells. Then, they’re in on the RICO charges, where the same lyrics that the young men are encouraged to write are used against them, and the label is off the hook. For our community, rap is like the NFL or NBA-a way out.

If that’s true the rappers should say no we’re not going to rap these awful lyrics. Blaming the record labels seems weak to me. These are grown men. Being young is no reason for being ignorant. Young rappers were never this dumb. It was a young man’s sport because it was a young genre and hadn’t been around long. There are 60 year olds that are hip hop and have been from the 1980’s. These youngin’s are a chamber that’s filled with self snitching ignorance and such a lack of skill that not being able to rap on beat is not noticed.

So hip hop needs to change. Vlad this was a Hippocratic subject because the generation you saying needs to grow up, you very much profited off of them with interviews. And built and base so 🤷🏽‍♂️

Banning violent lyrics is stupid; we wouldn't ban violent movies. Now if Al Pacino really was a drug lord in the 80s, that would be analogous to the YSL criminal cases.

It's called the black curse. Lazy inside. We don't evolve.. we are brilliant and naturally gifted/talented. But harnessing dat talent and taking it to d next level of great heights has always been our problem.. am African.. west African. An original. so don't cum up with any notion. I speak facts.. we easily produce hundreds of thousands of doctors, gifted sportsmen and other talents, only for them to go to d west where they r harnessed and become specialist physicians, world best sportsmen, inventors and Grammy/Oscar winners. Evolving has never been d Black mans thing. We are too laid back, worried about I have made it, I am fly, I gat it all, party, fiesta, fiesta.. if only we could pick up the western ethics of been un relentless in our approach to things in life, only then can we be better.

I do feel tho tht Vlad need to make sure wen he say sumthng like tht tht he actually know forsure wat he sayin is fact or true tho lol.

😂 it's so hilarious that y'all still think it's just music. They could've stopped this yearrrrrrrrs ago but rappers would rather look cool and make money then do the right thing. Same with the record execs. All guilty. Nobody wants to rap like will Smith. They wanna be gangsta so bad, not only for money because that soft shit doesn't sell but they can't for one second appear to not be a "real nigga" a "street nigga" or all their cool points fly away

Doubt she could sue the record labels cz they have plausible deniability to say they didn't know what those lyrics were about just like most of the other lyrics they didn't know were tied to real situations 🤷🏾‍♂️

It sounds like suddenly Warner bros. have a direct interest in this rapper not being convicted. If I'm him I know who my lawyers are calling to convince to join into the effort here before they get slammed with a billion-dollar lawsuit.

That should go for violent movies as well. Because violent movies show the violence, that's based on reality, which people can emulate.

Me personally I have no problem with Jamaica banning violent music like hip hop especially the drill scene is getting outta hand now 💯& where losing to many talented human beings to it hip hop has evolve as culture so it can survive because if not hip hop’s last years are going to be real soon! Where in crazy times now! Black on Black crimes has to stop💯 enough is enough.

If you rap about a crime and that crime actually happened. Thats not art that is stupidity. If i killed my wife and rapped saying “i buried my wife in the backyard” and someone finds her there. Thats not art, thats a confession.
