Loved this on the Ricky. Then I heard this version. Blew me the hell away. The subtle differences in the sounds that you coax from both instruments make comparison listening a real treat. But it seemed like you were really amped up for this one because that solo just smokes. Professor, I think you sound great on all of your bass guitars. But there's something special about that particular Jazz. It's got the nastiest growls and pops, almost like it has a mind -- and a soul -- of its own. Keep rockin', your eminence. Can't wait to see what's next.
@TJH311310 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot. I agree with you about this particular bass. My sunburst sounds very similar but this one just has a nasty quality to it...the good kind of nasty if you know what I mean. It may sound funny but, in all honesty, I don't even play this bass that often because I'm afraid I'll wear it out. The way it's set up lends itself to playing Rush stuff and it wouldn't sound as good on other, less aggressively played material. So, once and a while, I'll treat myself and break it out.

@TJH311311 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I learned this stuff as a young fellow when it came out and was pretty diligent/militant when figuring it out. There might be a few minor discrepancies in the choruses when the bass and drums do their syncopated things between the lyrics. I just put the screws back in so I'll know where they are when I need them. I had a small collection of "vintage" basses around 10 years ago. The youngest of them was a '72 like Geddy's only it was natural. I even threw a BadAss on it. Unfortunately, it was a good sounding or playing instrument and was the first to go when I started liquidating the collection.
